Thanks! yes looking at a million YT videos it looks like get the fall on the sub base right, then just start with the top slap and make sure the rest follow your line.
Thanks, from a lockdown impulse purchase of a DNA test apparently she's mainly Am Staff/Mastiff and 100% lazy.

Gravel trap along all edges, with a fall running away from the house to be sure I'm not causing any issues to the house. I've seen some places recommend a 2 way fall, I was just going to go in one direction?

Two way fall is harder to do though more forgiving of slight errors in your level as you’re only trying to keep a level half the distance. Depends really where you can drain water to. Drainage or gravel round the edge of the house is common so you don’t get rain bouncing back off the patio into your brickwork below the damp proof course, but if it’s well sheltered and your roof has a good overhang you might get away with this

Updates here to keep me accountable, finally replaced the on I hastily made when we moved to stop the dog escaping. Actually got to use a lot of the tools aqcquired over time here. All using old timber from people getting rid of decks and pallets.
Table saw to rip to size, electric planer to tidy it up and mitre saw for the rest. Garden table has been great, really need a flush trim router bit to tidy the outside up. I was in a rush to finish before having friends for dinner.

Workbench from some old tables a neighbour was binning. Really happy to have my own space and something to work on. Will eventually treat myself to some brand new lumber and make a bench with right angles but having it on lockable wheels for now is so useful!

Thanks for your replies! Check out some hire and I'm going to save my upper body and hire a whacker plate.
@Silly_Savage those calculators are dead useful, trying to work out my sand/cement amounts and it's still not quite clicking.
