If you want a free rack mounted Yepp to give it a try, then I've got one I really need to get out of my garage.
It comes with a pannier rack and a bracket so you can still fit panniers as well as the seat.

Rack mounting gives so much more space between you and your child, big difference between that and the seatpost mounted version.

Generous offer, but I'm based in Bristol. Appreciate it

This thing doesn’t get enough use now I’ve got two kids that need wheeling around, but had a fun afternoon out with the biggest yesterday afternoon up through the local woods to get some cake

Hi @NurseHolliday is there any chance you could put a pic up here of panniers + Yepp next time you've got them both on the bike? I've not managed to do it but would love to. Many thanks.
Mine's rack-mounted too but doesn't have the bracket. Can't get panniers in because of the fairing around the leg/foot rests.

I don't have the bike any more to fit them to sadly, let me see if I can find the original for sale post

Ah, ok, thanks for having a look. I've just added a picture of mine - thinking about it maybe there's 2 versions and you had the one that that clicked into the bracket? Mine clamps on to the outside of the rack struts.

What does yours look like from the front?
I can't find any pictures online of a Maxi seat on the Easyfit with panniers also fitted, but here's a link to explain what the attachment is:

Yes I think the one you've got is the newer design, mine fits in a different way, it's a centre bracket that fits to a laterally mounted bar rather than clamping longitudinally

I think that with the Easyfit XL attachment I linked to, you can use either style of clamp as it creates a second layer of rack

Does anyone have a Rack-mount Thule Yepp Maxi going spare?
-
• #763
Yes, but not in that there London

Sorry, only just noticed your follow-up replies, but really helpful - hadn't seen this Easyfit thing before and might be just the job for camping stuff + a toddler. Cheers, that's great.

Not spare to sell I'm afraid but you're welcome to take mine for a spin, see if you like it? See photo above, it takes all of 30 seconds to clamp to your rack. Am in E9, pm if you like, cheers.

Is the yepp mini the front seat of choice? Looks like it's for 9 months + but what age/development do people actually start with them?
We have a 9 month old who's pretty comfortable sitting up on their own so I think it might be go time if it ever stops raining...

Does anyone have a toddler helmet (47cm dia) they don’t need anymore?
Keen to get my 8mo out on the bike for the first time!
I’m in E London -

I was a big fan of the Yepp Mini with my son—I think I started him off in it around the 10-month mark, then used it for the childminder drop-off and pick-up from 11 months or so. As long as they’re good sitting up the seat is pretty supportive and I enjoyed being able to chat with/at them en route.
I mounted it on a bike with a fairly long top tube and used some bars with a bit of backsweep, and didn’t find that it interfered with my knees too much, at least on a short commute—I did need to lower the saddle, however, as there was less room for me to stand over the top tube at lights, etc.

Thanks!

My 4 year old can ride her bike but not for very long. Our camping summer holiday will mean riding to the nearest town (5km) for supplies now and then. Last year she was in a trailer but I want to know if there's a forum preferred way of attaching a small bike to a big bike.
Do folk just use a bungee cord? Is there anything smarter? The route is 95% traffic free which is nice.

The Follow me tandem is great. But pricey.
Adapts to multiple size wheels/bikes though, so can be used for years.

I'm a big fan of these elastic tow ropes. Dirt cheap, so quick on and off and you can throw it in your bag. https://www.amazon.co.uk/WsznhW-Recovery-Triangle-Suitable-Childrens/dp/B0CKSXY561/ref=mp_s_a_1_2_sspa?
Only downside for younger kids is they do still need to ride their bike, but they can just coast and means you get a bit more of a workout.

Anyone got a Thule Yepp Maxi they are looking to offload?
-

Yeah, I’ve got Follow me and it’s great. Pricy as hell but they don’t really lose much value so you’ll recoup a lot of the loss as a later date.
Thanks for the advice all
Think I am going to go with a Shotgun rather than Macride after looking properly at the prices...
Still suspect she will not love it at first compared to a seat with backrest etc but hopefully she'll adapt
