It's tall, but I suppose much shorter than it would be if my car was a normal estate.

I think I'll need a little more security than just that cable, but it's nice that they include it.
I'm going to use a bunch of Hiplok zip-tie lock things in order to make the bike harder to whip off the roof and bugger off with when I have to stop for a call of nature and/or lunch.
I'm a bit worried about that, but I've got no more serious locks with me.

Watch out with the tolls - lots of the 30kph ones that you can drive straight through are 2m max height barriers! If there are ones with a higher height limit they will be all the way over in the slow lane side.

Good point - the bipper is mainly to prevent me from having to jump out of the car, run round, pay, run back round and clamber back in each time I get to a toll station tbh.

Yeah - so much easier with it

Also - don’t forget that you need a UK and not GB sticker/plate

I do have one, I don't want to use it, but I guess I'll stick it on the back of the box when it's time to go.

Looks very nice. What's going in the box btw? Read back a few pages but couldn't see if you'd said.

Clothes, helmet and bike gear, just stuff really to support a month of riding in France.

Remove the spring from the shock and air (if they are air filled from the forks). Instantly lower

Hinder bike theft.

Ah, my concern is at rest stops on the autoroute- where someone should grab it off the roof and throw it in their van/whatever and drive off.

Love it.
Came across this as a neat way to add a strap... https://youtu.be/UTrn-Q3if3s?si=urUNx5anntmmm0Ed

They’re a life saver on the motorbike.
Was riding down through France one year before we could get them over here and it was pissing it down.
In between tolls, my paper ticket had turned to papier-mache and I had to beg a nice man on the intercom to let me through.
I’ll stick a traffic cone on the front before I head to the Chunnel
