Is it deliberate? Is he or his team deliberately taking the piss out of the entire Tory party because the piss up in a brewery, the Titanic and literally building a red wall is next level stuff.

What are people’s thoughts on the tv debates? Adam Bolton give an interesting potted history on times radio, 2010 was the first, everybody loved Nick Clegg. 2015 Cameron refused to do them as he was shit in 2010. 2017 Theresa May refused to do them. 2019 a couple of Boris and Corbin. So there not really a fixture at all.
So sunak wants 6! presumably all on GB News with an audience of Tory counsellors. He’s got nothing to lose and I think more importantly it limits his exposure to the public on the street.
Starmer want two and only head to head which understandable as he won’t want to be out flanked on the left my the lid dems and greens.

Could all of these big names standing down give the Conservatives a bit of a boost? People thinking ‘oh there’s been a refresh and a lot of the known issues have gone so maybe they’ll be alright this time around?’

The idea that the no. 10 Con Team despise sunak soooo much that all the fuck ups are actually deliberate trolling is keeping me warm right now. Could be a very long six weeks for the pint size loser.
I wonder what next, a closed school, deralict hospital, graveyard, morgue, slaughterhouse ?

He says he wants six but it's all bluff. The prime evening slots are already taken up with sporting fixtures, which CCHQ know, so its just first out the gate posturing.
-
• #132
The conventional wisdom would be the opposite, depending on the person. name recognition goes along way with less engaged voters.
-
• #133
Sunak has also been regularly battered at PMQs so isn't going to be volunteering for a debate that will likely have higher viewing figures.

No football on GB news, all sorted. An hours debate compared by Ress-Mogg

At which point ITV & Starmer offer a debate with actual reach and coverage, pointing out gbnews doesn't define itself as a news station and is under OFCOM review

Guess labour things go in here now instead of the Starmer thread?

Now that's a proper policy

I imagine they're going to parachute in a load of candidates who will turn out to have some horrendous social media histories.

I’m loving the story that Gove gave a motivational speech at cabinet to get people on side for the election, ending it with “who dares wins”
Next day stands down as an mp, top trolling to the end.
Also it’s day 3 and sunak needs a day off to get his meme machine back on track

He was likely sarcastically evoking Michael Portillo who said the exact same thing at Tory conference in 1995 and was gone in 1997
-
• #141
I guess he’s able to read the room at least the Lib Dem’s are likely to take his seat, even more likely now

So Labour wants the youth getting the vote and the conservatives are pitching they get mandatory national service
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cpddxy9r4mdo -
• #148
And with Sunak saying he wants to bring back National Service, he is going to get even more crushed
-
• #149
So the Bring Back National Service, they can't of thought this through, if it's all going to be decided by a Royal Commission. Going to all fall apart in 24 hours IMO.

First weekend of the campaign and all the Tories have to offer is to bring back national service. Could their hatred of young people be more obvious?
Armando Iannucci killing it as Sunak's election strategist.
