I even left it over night.
It’s more time consuming than you’d think. I was at it for a week or so, changing solution every day, before I finally got the post out. You gotta relax maaan…

I took your wise words onboard, went straight back to Robert Dyas doubled up on caustic soda, put a bit more effort in and was finally rewarded this morning. Thank you @russmeyer

Have to say I found the caustic soda route disappointing, partly due to my own inability to stop the solution running out of the frame and once I did keep it contained seemed to have limited impact on the seat post despite bubbling & smoking like a chimney at times.
I even left it over night. I’m sure if I kept going it would eventually dissolve but probably just as cheap to take it LBS and burn it out.
