Are any forum users riding the Hounslow 100 this Sunday?
If you are, let me know - I expect to be out on the course with camera. I'll make a point of trying to get a good picture.
This is Hippy in the 2012 edition

Trainers cropped out?

I think I'd found my shoes by then.

Nice little parachute on your arm!
I think I did it in 2012...was that the year you got fooled by the guys with the picnic table pretending to be finish timekeepers...?

Yeah, pinning numbers on is stupid.
It probably was. I think I raced 3x100s in three weeks and PBd them all, even with stupid mistakes. Easy to get PBs when you first ride a distance. :)

Actually just reading my race report. This edition was the one where Scherrit's car wouldn't start and I paid like £200 to get a taxi out and back to race. It was also the one I had to stop and stretch my glutes out a couple of times because I'd just removed 20mm from the spacer stack for midfoot position without actually doing any riding in the updated position beforehand.

Whats the excuse for those awful tyres?

Personally, I wouldn't criticise his bike until I'd established that my 100 time was at least somewhere near what he'd done!
Anyway, I'm glad to see that my post has stirred up a bit of interest in the thread - also it shows the power that a picture can have.

I didn't want to embarrass the riders that had actually remembered their shoes?

Tiny pump like this or Co2 and a crack pipe?
https://www.tweekscycles.com/topeak-micro-rocket-alt-pump-euktmralt/
I can get a mini pump+co2, crack pipe, multi tool, tube and tyre levers in a bottle + stuff a pair of latex gloves in for anything greasy and they help stop it all rattling about

That's commitment!

Yeah, I was more serious/enthusiastic back then.

I’ve just moved to a village near the old cyclists huts in Ugley…..they stir my emotions on my daily commute! A few have been sold off and turned into homes, and one looks derelict, with a newer house in what appears to be the grounds of it, but they exist!
The ‘Easterly’ hut has a brilliant plaque above the door……Does anyone off here still use them/ go to them? I’d love a look around inside

Sadly, it looks as though you've missed the Easterley Road Club by about ten years:

Is the road bike to champs settled now?
Sure I seen it wasn’t this week which is ridiculous

Is the road bike to champs settled now?
Nope. If you care (not that anybody should) you can follow the progress on the TT Forum

I care in passing.
That’s not passing sadly.

Very occasional poster. Rode the HDW100 on 53x15 on Sunday. Managed 4:11, but would have been 2 min faster if my chain hadn’t jumped off. Water bottle holder also went south. Not quite as fast as my 12h speed on the same course with gears, but the hill in the middle and headwind makes for a grind/spin/grind… race . A report from clubman may be forthcoming.

Yeah, the Holybourne-Chawton leg does that to everybody.

Holybourne-Chawton leg
Been resurfaced. Now it’s the Bentley to Holybourne section that has degraded to compensate. The rest was fine. And I use gel pads under the elbows for 0.5cm of suspension.
I swapped from a 56T from the Reading 50, the week before, and I should have tightened the chain a bit more. The bottle ended up under the skin suit with the bladder. No pictures, I look huuuuuge!

I had good luck with the XLAB Delta 225 and its Gorilla cage... until I think the last 12hr I rode when I lost a full 500ml bottle, which wasn't great as I was on a pretty limited resupply schedule.

The Hounslow report should be on VeloUK soon.
I will post a link here when it's up. -

I don't know if I'm actually going to have the legs to race TTs this year. Tempted to sell the frame I picked up.
Anyone interested in a cheap cannodale slice rim brake frame?
Size 54cm, lots of scratches and scrapes, but seems solid.
I've not actually ridden it yet
Dm if interested. Cheers

The spray cans were originally designed for tubulars, which have a butyl or latex inner tube. Obviously they're agnostic about what's containing the tube. Some of them claim to be effective on tubeless too, but if your sealant hasn't worked I doubt whether a spray can will do any better
