Maybe they’ve seen what happened with Leverkusen and decided now was the time for them to hire a young manager on the up too? (Although you’d think they’d recruit someone more promising than Kompany).
They tried that with Kovac and to a lesser extent Nagelsmann and it was a spectacular failure. Don't underestimate the issues with dealing with the politics at Bayern, even Ancelotti found it difficult. That's why they've usually gone for people who know the club or high profile managers.
