Haven’t they repeatedly had their fingers burnt by hiring managers who do have big club and big cup experience, only for them to fail win the trophies they desire (but expect is probably a more accurate description)?
Maybe they’ve seen what happened with Leverkusen and decided now was the time for them to hire a young manager on the up too? (Although you’d think they’d recruit someone more promising than Kompany).

Sure. You'd just think that a big club like Bayern would want something more than 'Won the Championship and shows an ambition to play nice football' in a manager. Proven success at the highest level. Experience of managing in the Champions League. That sort of thing.
I assume they had other targets and have just fucked up their recruitment spectacularly and are now in panic buy mode. But still. Maybe it's all insane rumour and they'll hire Mou instead.
