Pelago make 35/45/55mm alu fenders in shiny black as well. Don’t know about UK stockists, but at least locally they’re 55€.

Still not Honjos though!
Honjo H40 look perfect, nice round profile too. Maybe I'll reach out to some of the UK sites who have the silver and see if they can get a black set.

These do look classy, thanks for throwing into the mix!

No problem! And nice Faran as well! I’m using mine with 60mm 700c Berthoud that I managed to massage to a 67mm width for 2,2” Racekings.

Amazing. I'll also want to try and run 27.5 x 2.1 mtb tyres with mudguards and was wondering if it would be possible!

My VO on my Demon have been used a few years and haven't cracked.
Gilles Berthoud? I got some silver wide boys for my commuter from Clandestine a while back. Not sure if he still sells them?
Have used PDW all metal 45 for the past 2 years. They're good, but VO are better in terms of coverage and defo look nicer.
SKS Edge 56 on my gravel bike. They work for that purpose but they don't have the wrap around of a VO/GB/Honjo.

What a nice looking bike. Do you have any more pictures?

Lots of VO crack comments.
I thin kthey crack when they're installed such that the mudguard needs to be under tension to line the holes up with the fasteners, when the drilling is sloppy and the holes are misshapen ovals with lots of burrs left on, and when they're installed without any leather washers or bits of cork that will offer some kind of flex. There's nothing inherently cracky about them when installed properly.

I've had exactly the same search and was veering towards waiting on Freshtripe's next simworks / honjo order (a few months apparently) - but if you find a perfect answer that isn't that then I'd love to hear it

Lots of VO crack comments.
Mine have been faultless, even if they were bought second hand and they came with some holes from a previous mounting attempt.

This looks like a great bike. Any more pics/info?

I should take a bit more, and the previous one was actually taken by a friend with proper camera.
Here’s one from the same trip in Northern Estonia.
I managed to find this slightly used and this replaced Pelago Stavanger as I wanted to have more tire clearance for winter and to run 27,5” mtb tires.
I also have 28” wheelset with Ultradynamico Cava 39?? that are in reality close to 36mm at least after 100 km.
The bag is from small Polish brand Babylegsbags.

This is Fairlight Faran 54T that I got 2nd hand in Autumn. Mostly GRX, but vintage Dura Ace cranks with Blue Lug NW. And Goatlink to enable 11-51 cassette.

I am looking to get some PDW guards but only have about 8mm between the tyre and seat tube…online they say I need 12mm (I think) am I going to have issues ?

Last autumn I put mudguards on one of my bikes and it has basically been the only bike I ever used since then. Don't know how I couldn't lived without them before.

I would like to put SKS Bleumels on this bike but it doesn't have a single mounting point...
Do I p-clip everything or are there better solutions?

i've used p clips before and they work surprisingly well - otherwise you could use these:

Pclips really do work well and they make pulling wheels easier than the QR mounted adapters. Had a bike for a time that has no mounts on the fork. Pclips stayed put with no rattling or wear through several seasons of commuting.

Hello there, came back for advice on fenders -- what are my best options? I was set on getting SKS Edge set, but it (like all other SKS sets) state that I need at least 15mm of space between tire and fender -- and I have at most 7 between tire and bridge, it is surprisingly low. Can I ignore SKS recommendations? Are there better (still under 50 Euro) sets for my case? Vertical hole on the bridge is something I've never seen before; other than that it has all the mounts you can expect -- couple of eyelets on the rear dropouts; eyelet near BB. Not concerned with fork too much -- there everything should fit just fine.

Plenty of room in there. I had to file the bridge boss down on one of my bikes to fit a guard in and I still had way less space than you do there.
A vertical hole on the bridge is, in my opinion, the best way to fit a guard. You’ll need to drill it and possibly use a spacer or two, but it makes for a much neater and better looking fit.

Could get some button head hex bolts for max clearance too.
-
• #5773
In the past I’ve dremeled the heads down for even more clearance, Clarence.

Any advice for fitting wider fenders than really can fit in the seatstays? Is cutting them where they pass through a stupid idea?
-
• #5775
Dremel the sides in and then make sure it’s nice and smooth. Make sure it’s a nice gentle curve and go slow to avoid fractures or overly stressing the mudguard. I’ve had to do it on some sks guards. to clear a front derailleur, still holding up well.
If it helps, VO now ship little reinforcement strips with their mudguards now that stick below the drilled hole.
Although if you use a really sharp drill bit then they don't seem to crack.
The pdw's are good though. Been using a set for a few years now and no issues at all with them.
Still not Honjos though!
