So the AliExpress cleats turned up. They visually appear identical to the pre wahoo aero cleats.
Fitting seems fine.
Release is maybe marginally easier, but that might be down to the old cleats getting a bit sticky. Will ride with them for a while and report back, but pretty impressed so far.
