this is so cool. when you use an ap, is the app the same or reconfigured. I am just thinking because I need a new phone and I am looking to buy a new bike GPS and I want it all to work easily together

Did you see VBs comments about building a secure Pixel in the Android thread using https://grapheneos.org/
Might be worth a look for some of you.

Sure dude

Thanks! Everything works like normal. Will do just fine with your GPS. The most complex part is wiping and installing the new OS, but there's a ton of help online.

Totally. GrapheneOS, LineageOS and CalyxOS are all good options. I think Lineage might have the widest compatability device wise.

I'm still running stock Android these days (though with a few privacy add-ons). I don't have enough time to fck about but I'm somewhat tempted by the idea of it.

Do it! The actual wipe/installation only takes 5 mins without errors. The main faff is moving your data off then on again.

I wouldn't do it to my current phone. I'd buy a new one and run side by side for a while to ensure shit works. Wish there was a smaller Pixel - the 6a is at the limit and I still don't have a mount for it to stick it on the handlebars because it's too big. I probably should though but then it'll die and I'll need a new one anyway.

Jelly Star is my only phone these days. Absolutely tiny.

Hi all. This is a great setup, and it's in great condition too. I've decided it's too big for me though. So I'd like to offer it back here for the same that I bought it for a week ago - £125 including RMSD. Let me know if you're keen.
The funny/great thing about Google Pixels is that you can de-Google them really well. I bought this refurbished from GiffGaff (£279) just over a year ago, and it's been running CalyxOS ever since (with automatic updates - now on CalyxOS 5.7.0). No Google bloatware/spyware trash, no forced Google apps, no logging into the Play Store etc etc.
Alas, I'm on a neverending quest for the perfect dumbsmartphone, and I've just managed to get LineageOS working on a Jelly Star so I'm switching to that. For now.. I used the Pixel with a really minimal launcher that listed my few apps plus gestures left/right to messages/browser, which got pretty bloody close to the dumbsmartphone ideal (see pic). I could still doomscroll with it if I really wanted to though. Hence the new tiny phone.
Anyway, this is Calyx: https://calyxos.org/ - defo check them out if you have a Pixel or a Fairphone.
I can switch it back to the standard Android OS if you like (#lame), but I would heartily recommend giving this a go first. Totally up to you. Phone itself is in excellent condition, colour is 'Stormy Black' and it comes with the lovely Otterbox Defender.
