  • Probably not going to be an NJS build but it might get some NJS bits.

My XB3 Спорт is looking a bit crusty again and is in need of a repaint. I thought I might buy a frame to swap everything over to* while it's away and scratch an NJS itch at the same time.

    Spec:
    2015 frame
    TT 54
    ST 52
    Kasei NiCR-MO 8630 double-butted.
Seller said Max fork, but I think it's Kasei Evolution 2.

    Tube specs:

    https://www.tracksupermarket.com/tube-sets-lugs-frame-building/kaisei-fork-blades-evolution-aero-evolution-ii.html

    Frame weight 1628g
    Fork weight 700g (it's hench)

Only PITA at the moment is the 110 rear because everything I've got is 120.

  • I'm all in on this thread. Great frame. How about cold setting it?

  • It might not even need that, tbh. It measures about 114mm between the dropouts so a 120 wheel will probably go in quite easily.

I'm actually thinking of making up a 110mm axle for my HED and have a disc at the back.

  • Lovely frame. I've also got a Makino with 8630R. Yours is much cleaner.

Be a bit careful about the brake bridge if you go 120mm. I was always told that 126-130mm was no worry, but 120-126mm usually meant a new bridge.

  • You'll have to start reading Murakami novels now

  • This is already porn <3

  • Link please!

  • Burple

  • Placeholder parts. Actual build will probably be HED at the back, spoked at the front and drops, but probably not the Jag.

Slightly odd is the rear dropouts want an 8mm axle. Not the end of the world because I’m making up a new axle for the HED for this anyway.

  • Like HED disc in the rear? Is this going for actual velodrome?

  • No, this will be taking over daily duties from my Спорт. It might go on track if the opportunity arises, but it’ll mainly be for commuting and weekend rides.

  • i question the disc. the 8x110 is njs keirin dimensions. conversion kits are available which may help you out.

  • … selling the cnopt?
ive wanted one of those for years..

  • I approve of the form over function approach. You‘ve seen his dad bike, right?

Yeah I think I just found out about 8x110 the hard way! The disc is the easiest of my wheels to convert because I can slip pretty much any axle into it and set the width with tubes and locknuts. I think I’m just going to use a 10mm axle and flatten the ends to suit.

Afraid not! I absolutely love it and I’m hoping to return it to its original gold. It might be a way off though because this one is currently consuming all my cash!

  • this is splendid

  • Blimey, that feeling when you forget exactly what you ordered and something much nicer than expected turns up. It’s a bit nice.
