  • That's very nice, lovely old lugged treks.

  • Boxing and bike building evening

    Anybody watching the fight?

Just need to cut the cables and annoyingly I’ve ran out of cable ends. Not sure about the black bar tape but looks alright overall 🙃

Think it could be a bit small for me but will see!

  • Wonderful. Thought they were OG onza porcupines at first.

  • Thanks to Ali Express, spare parts bin & Spray Bike, I rattle-canned some life back into this crappy old Pinnacle Lithium. Schoolrunlocalshoppubtastic

  • I have always have had a soft spot for these, nice. Lets have a proper DS photo!

  • Liking that a lot. Still wish I owned a pink bike.

  • Very cool!
    Bars ID plz

  • tasty, and perfect for the kona lava dome project that i'm building for my daughter.
(or is it secretly another bike for me so i can learn to wheelie...? 👀)
    cheers!

  • Small update. Found a combined Nitto stem and Noodle bar at a decent price, I think it suits the bike quite well and the fit seems good.

Mocked up with some Shimano LX Mountain parts I had laying around, chainrings will probably be replaced to a 2x set up but will keep as is for now.

Next to decide is what brakes and tyres to use.

  • That is very promising.

  • Took the finished Cougar out for its first ride out on Friday. The Columbus SLX tubing is gives an amazing ride and it feels really quick and great up hills. Campy 9 speed group is also great shifting which surprised me. First time using Shimano mtb spds and they are fantastic.

Edit: After riding a second time a bit longer, I think it's a little small for me so toying with selling it on.

  • Nice, looks fun! Would look better without the tanwalls though imho

  • Black sidewalls in summer? Surely not

  • Not until after Labour Day.

  • When I had a mad moment and bought a bouncy bike, my idea was that my old hardtail would be retired as all parts would be moved across to the new bike. As it happened, very few parts were moved across - no surprises there.

I then realised I had already bought a rigid fork in a mad moment, and some drunken scrolling ended up with some heavily reduced velo orange hubs (bit less of a bargain once tax and duties reared their ugly head). These combined with the rims I’d previously purchased to replace a dented rim on my partners bike (she refused the new rims) meant I had all I needed. It’s only taken me 12 months to put it together combined with one final silly blow out on some handlebars.

The future dream is to get a front rack to support the basket so I can also run panniers, and install the axle I have for my Bob Yak that never gets used. Oh and replace the wheelset with something with 30 to 35 mm internal so I can legitimately fit 2.8F,2.5R big squishy tires. But for now the new get around bike is complete.

  • Dropper on the commuter!
Hope it’s getting some air time or being ridden down some stairs

  • I have very lovely friends, one of whom gifted me a longer dropper for the Starling, so I figured I might as well put this one back into use. And for when the trailer is attached it will make mounting etc much much easier.

But yes, also sends and stairs.

  • Just finished this Raleigh Randonneur 650b conversion, complete with DIY rack, bag and internal dynamo routing with stem mounted on/off switch

  • Wonderful! Can we have some more photos? How does it ride? I've thought about doing this conversion several times over the years but never got round to it.

Also, the bike deserves better mudguard alignment!

  • More photos will come when i get some time

it rides beautifully, nice and stable without feeling like a barge. A mudguard adjustment is on the cards, I need a bit more space under the front to allow for all the dynamo cable joints
