  • First time on the track for 2.5 years on Saturday, for the Southern Athletics League, Div 2. 16:31 in the 5,000m, was hoping for something a bit quicker than 5 seconds inside my last parkrun time, but running on the track is such a head-fcuk! Also got involved in an actual race and thought I did well there; my club mate eased away from me about 2/3 laps in (finishing in 16:11) and it felt too hard to go with him. Spent the rest of the race catching a couple of runners, sitting on them, being past by another guy, then sitting on him, then getting ahead and not being passed again. The final-lap gurn-fest was worth the effort because a couple of the young'uns behind me closed to within two seconds at the finish. Phew! What with it being early season, it's good enough for 2nd on the V50 rankings. Feel like I wanna give it another go though.

    Calves were toast for a couple of days from wearing non-cheat spikes on the track. Almost feels like justification for splurging on some Dragonflies (anyone??) for my birthday.
