• Significantly less adventurous than a lot of the stuff in this thread but has anyone got any suggestions for nice walks that are easy to get to on public transport from south east London? (SE20 specifically). Probably about 2-4 hours worth of walking at a not super fast pace and would like some woodlands because despite being Greek, my dog is shit with any sort of heat so some shade would be nice. If there's a nice pub or two en route, even better.

  • I’ve done this route a few times.

I’ve done it in reverse (Reigate > Dorking) and finished at box hill for the sunset. But I imagine it’s nice both ways.

Was a decent Sunday walk, with cheap day returns from London.

The Pubs suggested are all a bit Range Rover, but they’ll do you a pint.

  • You could try looking at some of the London Loop or Capital Ring sections. All designed to be reachable by public transport and usually feature shade/pubs/interesting stuff to look at, etc. I've done all the ones near SE London and can recommend sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Loop and the first four sections of the Capital ring.
