  • Cavalier short boot SRi

My dad had one of these as a company car when I was litte

  • I don’t think I’ve sat in comfier seats tbh

  • I drove some of those as an ARV in the early 90s. Good cars but we had too much clobber in them, ballistic shields, BPVs and fucking shooters. They were probably at the limits of their capabilities but good cars. Spirited acceleration and roundabouts where killers for the front tyres. The early Vectras were a bit worse but the Mondeo ST220s were quite a bit better.

  • but the Mondeo ST220s were quite a bit better.

We had one of those at work for surveillance, lovely car to drive and swift but showy as fuck.

Front seats were a bit too sporty for sleeping comfortably in too.

  • Wet belts are spenny to change/service tho!

And doesn’t the 1l ecoboost eat head gaskets?

  • ULEZ compliant implies 2005 onwards petrol (a few years earlier for some models), or if you want them to learn all about rust repairs, pre-1984.

Anything post-2001 with a non-small petrol engine is going to have expensive road tax.

Mk1 Phase 2 Yaris. T-sport if you must.

  • GTI has been just 👍🏻

  • Pure gold, absolutely brilliant documentary. Poor Maestro fella

  • Been looking on autotrader etc for my £10k car, have atted looking at smaller electric cars- Zoes, leafs etc. I have a drive so can charge at home. Not much more than 10k gets you something pretty new . Assuming decent battery health , are there any reasons this would be a bad idea?

  • Zoe seems to have some costly reliability issues on older models? I'm vaguely drawn to a BMW i3 which are now in that price bracket.

  • True of newer models too? I3 is nice, but I'm unsure whether range is sufficient for me

  • Iconic headrest covers spotted in Cambridge this morning.

  • This machine is still giving me deep joy. Taking it to my regular mechanic for a full service on Tuesday, pray for my head gasket. And everything else for that matter.

  • Wow, Holy s^*t!
My dad had one, also as a company car. Exactly like this! K7 plate
Washed it many a time for a bit of spending money.

  • My dad had a choice of this or the Peugeot 405 1.9 SRi. (well, he had other things on his list but he narrowed it down to these two).

He chose well. He chose the Peugeot. It was ace.

  • Deep joy is an excellent thing to get from a car.
I am loving this little fella like it's an actual person. It's brilliant.
I get to fix broken things, buy it presents, make it shinier and shinier, and drive it like I stole it.

Mrs Q and I are entering it in a classic car rally in a month, which finishes at a local race circuit (couple of laps of that) and we get to exhibit it along with 500 Ferraris and a bunch of beautiful classic motors.

  • I had a 405 SRi bitd, very nice to drive

  • Dunno if this is the place for it, but dafuq is this Modball Rally? On a relatively busy M25 at lunchtime, all of a sudden swarmed by a bunch of Lambos etc driven by utter cunts, undertaking, overtaking, weaving all over the fucking place. A search shows it's some kind of utter cunts' jamboree, where they, in their own slogan, 'drive all day, party all night' across Europe, and not a single one of them would pass a test for cocaine use. A Cannonball Run for utter cunts. How is this shit allowed?

  • Can only hope that they do stupid stuff in Switzerland and get their cars confiscated.

  • Road to success has a good podcast with owner of cannonball. An interesting insight from the otherside.

  • Saw this at a garden centre in Cambridge. The grey and black is chefs kiss

  • Lovely, so much personality. My OH was really fed up that I'd got rid of the XV, she really loved that car, but I think she's slowly coming around to this one now.

  • so good. What year is this lovely little motor?

  • That's ace. Have yet to drive a classic mini. One day!

Also, is that a Pontiac Firebird parked amongst old Renault and Citroens?
