Never seen it??
Now watch all the Ghibli movies.
-
• #307
It's the theatre adaptation isn't it
-
• #308
Yes, at the Coliseum. It's a production that's been running in Tokyo and follows the film pretty much exactly.
I enjoyed Totoro more but it's still good. The view from our seats wasn't great though. -

watch all the Ghibli movies.
Already done that! As @Mukashi said, this is the stage show: https://www.spiritedawayuk.com/

Oh!!
Any good?
-
• #311
Yeah it's good. They basically act out the film, scene by scene but it's well done and they add a couple of songs too. It's in Japanese with all Japanese cast and subtitles. It's been running in Tokyo but has moved to London.
Still, if you can only see one, go see Totoro

I was so confused looking at that, took about 10 seconds for my eyes to figure out I wasn't looking at the maddest living room TV set up!

Ah wow. I’m so out of touch. We rewatched Totoro the other night and I still love it.

subtitles
How?
-
• #315
Screens above and to the sides of the stage
-
• #316
Get thee some tickets to the stage version. It's magical. One of the best things I've seen in a theatre
-
• #317
I suspected as much. I'm so used to the words being across the bottom of a screen. Was it easy to follow? How is your Japanese?
-
• #318
Had similar in theatre many years ago for Tosca. Unfortunately the subtitles were in Bulgarian so it was less than useful.
-
• #319
It was easy enough to follow without really knowing any Japanese. I recognise the odd word or two but having rewatched the film a couple of days earlier I knew pretty much every line anyway.
You can just about make out the screens in my photo
