  • Thanks! I definitely don’t mind. :)

    https://witslingers.com/product/backpack/

Available for ordering from this slightly crude product page, it’ll get an overhaul as soon as I’ve managed to give the German tax people my Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung.

  • How are the brakes

  • bangin'

  • Adequate at least.

  • really cool
how are the SQlabs inner bar ends? do they offer some good relief?

  • They're the best! I have my hands on them at least 60% of the time. On my 740mm bars the position isn't a lot wider than riding on the hoods of a forward thinking gravel set-up. I've ridden the bike on some long rides with mostly gravel bikes and it hasn't felt like I had a significant aerodynamic disadvantage. (#boastpost)

  • okay am sold.
when the need arises im going to reach for the ergon grips/bar ends combo too

  • Perfect bike. Will be interesting to get the SID back from service, it feels so capable even on the rigid fork.

The tea is a single origin Oolong from Taiwan, strong rec for the Berlin readers.

The beans are on homemade sourdough obvs.

  • Looks great with the bagman too

  • Looks great but the cross bar buzzed the tyre on a couple of sends, so a bag would get torn to shreds. I'm moving it to the drop bar bike and this will get a rear rack + panniers instead. Although it might work with struts, or without the support and the bag strapped to the seat post.

  • Struts please

  • Fair yeah. Rack could support a saddle bag also if you wanted.

  • this will get a rear rack + panniers instead

  • If you're after racks, I have 2 tubus rear racks going that I'll send your way if they take your fancy.

  • Today started off with an attempted bike theft which made me miss my booked train, to what would have been a lovely ride around Jena, due to a police visit and general stress, don't recommend.

With worryingly little fiddling (they got scarily close and I'll have to rethink bike storage + insurance) I managed to free my bike from behind the mangled door and headed out for a local loop instead.

I spotted a deer, a pheasant, a common redstart (my first, I usually see the black redstart here). Had a road-side lemonade. Came home absolutely tattered. About to run a bath and read a book to unwind.

  • Damn! Very glad it wasn’t a successful theft despite no lack of effort on their part it seems. Makes me even more dubious about our cellar set up in Berlin with the compartments being made of ancient rotting wood that could probably be pulled apart without breaking a sweat. What insurance do you/will you have?

  • Redstart is a good spot

  • I have to say it held up better than hoped, the fucker was the front door lock being broken and the basement door being left unlocked. I'm going to pester house management for the front door to be repaired ASAP because it's been broken on and off for the last 4 years. Not sure on insurance, Laka seems to be the big one but expensive. Maybe I can add it to our Hausratversicherung but their idea of the value of the bike probably doesn't quite align with mine.

  • I have bikes up to 2500€ (3000€?) in my Hausrat with Allianz, also insured outside when locked to something. Not had to claim yet, so no idea if a picture and list of parts will work out, but have been told it would.

  • That sounds good, I'll have to dig up our insurance policy and see if I can get an add-on with whomever we're insured with.

Also thanks for the offer @Josh but I think I have a "collab" lined up. 🫨

  • I’m glad they didn’t succeed or bring electric tools. An angle grinder would cut through those 5 bars on the door in less than 2 minutes. 😓

  • Ive been so in love with the green bike that I almost forgot about this one. Doesn’t help that the rear wheel needs tubeless faffing, but it's good enough for a quick ride tonight.

  • As promised I'll try to post more of my bags here. These are for the inimitable @Hulsroy 's much hyped new bike. Full bolt-on top tube and frame bag for the long days and a lil saddle bag for a tube, tyre levers and a multi tool. I genuinely think this saddle bag is one of my best products but the world hasn't quite realised it yet, the magnetic boa-like ratchet is a joy to use. One day I'll make a proper video and post a reel and maybe that'll get the ball rolling.

  • How much for one of these saddle bags and do they fit well under an SMP?
