  • I'll call your nail and raise you a 35mm screw that did actually break through the inner face of the rim too. I had to use a spanner to remove it. Almost brand new rim and tyre both dead.

  • 559x50-ish cheap but good mostly pavement recommendations?

  • Well, that's always been my suggestion but was wondering if there were any contenders on the horizon. Also, they're not available locally to me and the guy is in a bit of a hurry. There are Paselas around here, may go that route.
Actually slightly different than your link, but similar.

  • So I just bought a pair of Pirelli CINTURATO GRAVEL M (700x50C) tyres and they are going back. Didn't even unpack. The shade of the tan walls is just wrong.
So I need recommendations for 700cx50 or 29"x2.0" tyres that aren't sluggish as hell, tubeless-ready and have a semi-aggressive tread pattern. Something with some grip for off-road riding. All black now. Not risking it again with tan.

  • Where did you buy them from? I am looking for a Gravel H in 700x50, not found many place selling them

Vittoria Terreno (Dry or Mix) and Mezcal come in large sizes now.

  • @giofox I am in Austria and got them from the German shop bike discount.

Terreno Mix looks great on paper but I can't stand the grey sidewalls. Wouldn't work with the bike.
Mezcal come in all-black 29" x 2.1". Would be a bit of a gamble. 2.25" was a bit too tight for my taste. Do you have them and do they measure true to size?

  • I've had a 700x50 Maxxis Rambler, didn't feel too sluggish, though according to bicyclerollingresistance.com it is slow. Didn't measure it, but it was bigger than the same size GK SK and after a while it stretched enough to rub the Columbus Futura Cross + fork so I took it off. Might put it back at some point as I have a different fork now. Didn't get punctures, was easy to set up as tubeless.
Continental Race Kings come in 2" too and people seem to like them.

  • Well, my client wanted the tires NOW so I was left to overpay for a miserly selection here in town. Thought I’d lucked out with a set of Schwalbe Marathon Greenguards. Mounting them on the rims was fine, but no matter how many times I reset the bead in the rim (both tires) they wouldn’t run true; up and down, side to side, they’re all over the place. I tried another tire I had on hand, no problem so it wasn’t the rim and I don’t think it was me.

Anyone else have qc issues with Schwalbe lately? These are 50-559.
I should also mention that I’m running these tubed.

I've always found their tyres to be pretty 'wobbly'. Little Big Bens, some older G-Ones, Land Cruisers, Marathons, I've used all of them in the past and none have been noticeably true.

On a different note, 500 miles on the new Gravelking SS+, and really liking them. Comfy, fast(ish) and good durability. I was planning on switching back to Sawtooths for summer, but I think I'm going to keep them on.

The 700x45's run well around 35psi (tubed) I've found. At 40 they are noticably firmer on the road.

  • my GP5000 are worn and need replacing, is there anything better in 32c than GP5000? Was looking at Corsa N.EXT, does anyone have experience with these?

  • also intrigued in these being a big vittoria fanboy

  • What's a 700x25c commuter tyre for around £20-25, that you can recommend to budget-conscious friends?

  • Continental GP Urban.

  • Seems to be only available in 35 mm, for £45... unless I've got the wrong tyre.

  • Panaracer Pasela.

  • Contact Urban goes down to 700x28c, if they could squeeze that in? Still £40 RRP though. But great tyres.

  • Continental Ultra Sport. The folding ones are nicer and still under £20. Really quite decent tyres which are very good at more than just commuting.

  • Anyone using these ?
    P ZERO Race TLR 4S 30 mm

  • Continental Grand Prix 4 Season on a rear wheel:
not even 3300 miles of London/South Bucks/RBWM roads,
since January until last week, 'Winter road cycling'.

    It's becoming an annual event.
Finally take off the rear Race Blade mudguard and see through the tyre.
