  • this will forever be a perfect bike.

  • How can this be perfect? It doesn't even have an Innicycle threadless adapter for a start

  • what about the shifter bosses and chainstay cable stop? If you're going to leave those on, what's the point of going the hack on your frame to make it cleaner?

Key points, and somethings I had been half pondering.

Sticker guides are edging the lead by half a head.

  • Ultimate puppy killer
    Take brazings off
    Fix it
    End up di2

  • What this needs is an xray or mri or 3d tomography before drilling.

  • U r confusing me with dammit!

  • It’s a prett dammit project tbf

  • What happend to that Tron build with the circuit wiring? 😁

  • Or small rope on one side, and hoover on the other side.

  • That's uglier than the bare boss

  • Like a nipple clamp

  • You can also put an actual not connected Campa downtube shifter. Problem Solver also has an alternative cover. Some people put bells.

  • got a photo of the frame?

    EDIT - this?https://lfgss.microcosm.app/api/v1/files/dc1fa561372a2b0f3db447eda358dc8885c8ad8d.jpg

Tape it first for a mock up ride to see if the group is what you're into? then consider frame mods... will you run a quill stem or ahead adapter? is there a weep hole under the BB? is there a hole at the rear of the drop out? how thick are campagnolo electronic cables vs di2? I've used headphone cable and soldered my own for internal routing an external routed frame...

  • Some inspo for anyone considering going the whole nine yards

  • I've used headphone cable

What you find inside good quality USB cables is probably a lot more robust; the stuff I used seemed to have teflon insulation

  • Glad the drilling is being vetoed by the collective.

If going custom and in keeping with the Daccordi spangly 80s/90s frame vibe, can't you/they repurpose some overly elaborate beautiful Italian chrome clamps/guides from yesteryear to route the di-gubbins?

  • An insane amount of effort went in to that! Still, BDHU means BDHU.

  • BDHU can get in the sea. My shit is how I like it.

Those bars have had about 40mm trimmed off, BTW.

An insane amount of effort went in to that!

If I remember right, it only took a day or two. Aside from the painstaking filing to remove the cable stops, most of the effort was figuring out how to do it.

... Actually, I did this on the wrong bike; it's a size too big. So the stem is shorter than I'd like, and the fit is a bit compromised. Not long after finishing this project, I finally found another one of these in the right size, so at some point I'm going to do it all over again.

I have the fit dialled in on the smaller bike (at least with the Red levers)... If that's also deemed uncool, I couldn't give a rat's. BDHU looks goofy to me anyway, as if trying to ape the look of old bikes before levers and bars totally changed. Come to think of it, I was BUHD (with the levers pointing inwards a bit) even before I had dual control.

  • I even have this sacrificial frame (it's had a repair done to the left chainstay) which I'll use to investigate the feasibility of internally routing the brake cable through a 4mm pultruded carbon tube inserted through the top tube... Hoping if I make it a tad shorter than the gap between the existing cable stops, there'll be enough angle on it to minimise the scary holes necessary for it... Looking from the front, it would enter about 7:30 (which would work nicely with the lever for it on my left) and exit around 1:30... I really should get around to crunching the trig for that.

  • Yep, the frame in question is that Daccordi up there.

It is currently built up with an Athena 11sp mechanical group.

I'm not sure about any holes it has, I will have a look.

    It has a quill stem.

So much sense in setting it up with stickers first, even if it is not the final endpoint.

The group is due to arrive today, so I can look at cable thicknesses then.

I am now considering doing it myself, as opposed to getting a shop to do it. To save money, learn something, and be able to make and execute my own aesthetic decisions on sticker placement etc.

On the other hand, getting a mechanic to do it has lots of solid advantages.

    Hmmm.

  • Do it yourself, then when something has been done wrong at least you didn’t pay £200 for it

  • Yeah that echoes my thoughts

  • More interested in finishing kit tbf. :o

  • Any pro mechanic or shop should be concerned about liability when drilling.
