Posted this in the other thread but recently acquired my Grandad’s old watch. He died in 2011 and probably hadn’t worn this one since at least the 90s.
He even kept the original receipt.
Popped a new battery in yesterday and… nothing.
The light functioned, so clearly something in there was working. Left it on a shelf and an hour or so later the screen was working. Tried to set the time but the screen faded out as soon as I started pushing buttons. Repeated this for ages, with the screen repeatedly coming back on then fading out like the power was being cut. Let it sit for a few more hours and now it seems to be functioning as normal. Seems like the circuitry just needed some time to come back online. Old capacitors etc.
Anyway, glad it’s working. Wearing it today and quite into it.
