Hedge funds have the funds to take early punts on moves to make sure they don't leave a quick buck on the table. Losing 20 x $1mm is acceptable when you make $30mm on the 21st trade.
It'd be even funnier if this was just an elaborate scheme for a pump and dump without any active pump - just a single twitter post of a image of someone leaning forward in a chair.
