Thanks for sharing, looks like you did a strong effort! Turnhout is at the other end of the Bels Lijntje from where I live, I recognised some spots and stretches of road :)

Lovely day in Kent today.
Lot’s of people out - Pilgrims Way was a bit like a Cycle Superhighway.
Saw some deer, and there was something going on at Biggin Hill. Someone had a blinged-up Merlin engine on a trailer, looked like they were going to fire it up.
Looked at an old house
Sat in a church yard for a bit
Told three motorists to fuck themselves.90k
Nice day

That's a lovely looking Roberts.

Ta. I got it free with the groupset, as the seat tube had cracked by the front mech hanger.
Geoff Roberts repaired it and Colourtech repainted it. Now my most used bike.

I cycled to the source of the Thames. The first 110km were amazing, along canals, endless gravel, then the rest to Cirencester was OK just shit lanes but the final 15km to the Thames head almost finished me. It's not easily accessible so I ended up on a lot of dead end path and the last bit was just pushing through some overgrown path full of stinging nettles. Exit through a muddy field and gates everywhere, one more elaborate than the other.
But it's hilarious that the only place they mention on the sign by the source is Woolwich.

Nice, an adventure ride with a goal!

Absolutely beautiful day for a ride today. 100km around West Sussex along Coast and Country. Including some very friendly cows. Despite the sign they did not shoo away, but slowly followed me along the path mooing.

Few casual miles on the Muddy Fox with Mini down to the park. First one of the year, fitted the Carradice bar mounted bag support - it’s a hit! Just wish it had a quick release.
Then today I decided I’d flog myself round a few miles in the sun on the road bike. Ran out of time, plotted a reasonably hilly 50 miles and proceeded to get cramp in my quads from about 20 miles! It’s funny how much it feels like a rocket on new tyres, latex tubes, extensions and gears compared to the fixed commuter.
Had to stop at a pub at the 40 mile mark for a coke, crisps and water. I was getting cramp just on the flats at that point. The sustenance didn’t make much difference but enough to get me home. Wiped out now!

Hadn't put my Jack rack to much use recently, stuck it on for a quick spin to the garden centre. Felt quite pleased with myself cargo-wise, until a woman walked out after me carrying two big saplings in pannier bags with three more trees slung in backpacks over her shoulders. Very impressed.

Never posted on here before but pretty proud of my ride this weekend so…
I did the Etape Caledonia…On my Raleigh Twenty.
A lot of people asked me “Why?” as we were going round and I got to realising that the Twenty is actually my most suitable bike. Of a stable of 8 bikes currently, the twenty is one of only two with gears, the other being my mtb. Everything else is singlespeed or fixed.
You’ve to average 13mph to stay ahead of the broom wagon which, having looked over some of the recent rides on the Twenty, I thought might be a bit of a challenge so I made sure to position myself up near the front of my starting group and actually I averaged just over 14mph. Max speed was 43mph.
Not too many photos as it was a bit of a sufferfest.
I really don’t consider myself a ‘roadie’ and other than commuting I very rarely do a ride that’s 100% tarmac but I keep seeing things about the Etape too late, once it’s already sold out. I’ve also thought it was pretty expensive. This year I saw an early bird entry offer and had just gotten a little backdated pay thing at work so went for it. The feed stops were very welcome but I was planning on doing Ride to the Sun next month (also on the Twenty) but it’s further (100 miles), unsupported and there won’t even be shops open as it’s through the night so I’m reconsidering that.

I did hear a reference to Jesus just after overtaking someone on a £10k road bike on the first big climb of the day!

‘it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a man on a 10K road bike to enter the kingdom of God’ i believe that’s Luke

It wasn’t ‘it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a man on a 10K road bike to have both properly indexed gears and bottle cages that actually hold onto bottles’?

Wow, that's epic. Well done!
By the way I've always wondered, is your DP someone wearing a Cell (Dragon Ball Z) skinsuit doing the D-Generation X 'suck it' taunt?

Well done!
You demonstrated that £10k road bikes still have to be pushed (as in the humble 'push bike').
Your ride on the Raleigh seems a bit like my rides on ancient bikes. I'm not sure I realised it at first, but I think we're both, in our different ways, expressing what we feel about certain people who hope to buy speed and fitness. -

Did you check the original Greek? I think it's possible there's been a slight gain in translation.
