  • They're normally a bit hit or miss but a Bronx tale, goodfellas, mean streets, almost famous are good for the classics. Juice, 8mile and mid 90s for hip hop, Drive is good for driving.

My favourite and the first cassette I purchased (RIP Our Price), Beverley Hills cop OST.

  • Shrek - Smash Mouth covering The Monkees. Need I say more?

  • Judgement Night soundtrack - loads of original collabs between rock bands and hiphop emcees... absolute fire one and all.

But in retrospect, it also enabled Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock and Insane Clown Posse.

Didn't it famously sell many times more copies than the film itself?

  • Big if true (the shit rap rock theory), was never a fan anyway.

Adding Colors to my list. Los lobos, War, Ice T, Roxanne Shante and lots more good stuff.

  • All of Baz Luhrmann's soundtracks are great. Mt favourite is The Great Gatsby

  • Cadillac Records. And the recent Elvis soundtrack is great too.

  • Such an amazingly good bad film.

  • Yeah quite like the Romeo + Juliet one now you mention it

  • Sticking with Irvine Welsh, The Acid House has a decent soundtrack.

  • Human Traffic.

  • 24 hour party people has a pretty banging soundtrack.

  • Watched Dead Man's Shoes yesterday. Great film, hilarious at times, disturbing at others.

  • Re: Soundtracks, I frequently listen to the soundtrack of the (sort-of) Dylan biopic I'm Not There. I love Willie Nelson's version of Señor

  • Used to love the soundtrack to the Lost Boys when I was a kid.

  • So tremendous. Terrifying. Consadine’s best performance and that’s saying something. Have you watched Red Riding? Been meaning to watch that again for years. That’ll be tonight’s viewing.

Thanks all for the soundtrack recos all! Some great listening ahead!

On the OST front, I recently remembered how great One Hour Photo is - another rewatch ahead there…

  • Have you watched Red Riding?

No, I'll make a note to watch it

  • Book of Eli on Film Four right now. Somewhat cliche heavy, but a solid movie overall imo

  • Delved into my dvd collection this evening, two absolute bangers. Fargo and The Man Who Wasn’t There

  • Bit of a cheat answer because it’s a music biopic but BackBeat has a great soundtrack and the band assembled to impersonate the Beatles in the Hamburg years was a grunge supergroup

    The Backbeat Band" consisted of:
    Dave Pirner (Soul Asylum): vocals
Greg Dulli (The Afghan Whigs): vocals
    Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth): guitar
    Don Fleming (Gumball): guitar
    Mike Mills (R.E.M.): bass guitar
    Dave Grohl (Nirvana): drums

  • The Fall Guy took $28m so has bombed, they say. Universal put it on video on demand 19 days after opening day.

  • I've booked tickets to see it tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

  • This marks the first year since 2009 without a Marvel movie to kickstart the summer

  • They started trailing for it ridiculously early. But I'm in the mood for some big dumb fun so hoping it ticks that box.
