  • Wow

  • You know things are serious when @MementoMori starts a new thread

  • seems I ordered a 180mm instead of a 160)

Afaik there are no rotor specific callipers. It’s all about how they are mounted.
I believe you bought an IS brake to go an a flat mount fork. Instead you should have a flat mount brake with a 160mm adapter/mounting plate. It would be very strange choice for such a modern spendy frame to have an IS brake in the front and FM in the rear.

  • Thanks for thinking along Oddo but that’s not the case. It’s flat mount for sure, no IS or PM.

I’ll need to get another caliper like I have for the rear and I’m golden.

Some brands have dedicated caliper options available which prevents the need to use an adapter.

  • Yeah, I was just told that direct mount fm is a thing. What a fuckery.

  • Wow crazy stuff, following

  • Dios mio! The hardest of follows on this.

  • I can do two things;

    • return the front caliper and get a regular RX4+ caliper plus Z mount from Hope and use the 160mm Campagnolo rotor

    • order a Hope 180mm rotor (and 160 for the rear - matchy matchy) and use the current RX4+ 20 caliper I have without using any adapter whatsoever

First option is the safest, lightest and cheapest as I have the Campagnolo rotors already (and I never had any issues with a 160/160 setup on my gravel bike)

Second option is of course tempting to try but I'm not certain whether the brake can handle a 180mm caliper / rotor combo as it's designed to go up to 160.

  • First option is the safest, lightest and cheapest

    This without question, shirley?!

  • Yes, only challenge I see is the availability of the parts I need. :/

  • 160/160 please

  • Based on lack of availability for the next 6 weeks roughly, the only option I’d see is to change to purple, which would work as well actually. I figured orange would be a nice little touch as I’m Dutch after all…

  • As an anodized purple addict... I'd actually lean toward the orange.
    Wild card, the new Bronze?!
    hmm still vote Orange...

  • It seems I have located a caliper....I just ordered it. Let's see if it's actually in stock...

Now hunting for the adapter...the saga continues!

  • Excited to see what direction you take this build.

  • Did you part ways with your lovely BAUM?

  • I did not, it's still there but I need to have it checked as the bike and owner were involved in a bad crash recently. A car coming from the opposite direction turned left whilst I was halfway across the intersection, resulting in a sudden stop from 40km ph to zero.

Unfortunately, most of the impact was absorbed by yours truly. Ambulance ride to the hospital with severe facial trauma, exploded upper lip, front teeth pushed back to the middle of my mouth, broken hand, fracture in the elbow and stretched something in the ankle.

All this happened 10 days before the due date of my girlfriend which was the worst part of the entire ordeal.

It was a non-stop rollercoaster from specialist to lawyer, from lawyer to hospital etc etc.

It's a lengthy road to recovery with fysio twice a week for a total of 7 weeks, several interventions to both lip and ongoing interventions to my teeth but I'm alive and back on the bike.

Until the Baum has been 100% checked and green lighted, it's wall art for the time being. Visually it seems okay at first glance but I have my doubts considering the impact.

This is the main reason for the Enve's arrival actually.

  • Damn, beste wensen kerel.

  • That sounds terrible, all the best!!!

  • Cheers lads.

I've found and ordered the correct caliper plus adapter, T47 BB tool, some ti hardware and a pair of Ultradynamico Cava Race 33's.

Plan for this week is to apply the frame protection and to hopefully receive all the missing parts. I should be able to get some frame shots sorted as well. The color definitely pops in the sun.

The Shamals are now without labels, which does actually look a lot better in my opinion.

  • Sad sad news, as an italian rider I know te struggle to stay alive while riding a bike on the road

  • It's never boring here, that's for sure!

  • Found a few minutes yesterday morning;

Correct front caliper came in yesterday and tires / adapter / ti hardware should arrive today.
