  • So the guy that took Villa apart..Ayoub El Kaabi. Was raised in a slum, left school at 15 and became a carpenter, he didn’t play any form of organised football until he was 21. He then got picked up by a 3rd tier Moroccan side RAC and spent the next 5-6 years progressing through clubs and divisions in Morocco.
    He then signed for Turkish club Hatayspor but was released when the Turkish/Syrian earthquake hit and collapsed the stadium and the club couldn’t sustain a team. Then a brief spell in Qatar before getting picked up by Olympaicos.

  • That’s a nice take, props. I had a scroll through his Wikipedia page yesterday. It’s quite something, going from leaving school at 15 and only signing professionally at 21 to winning the African cup of nations twice and playing in a European final. A wonderful story.
