All of the people I ride with have been riding off road for many years, in your view did they become cunts by buying an e mtb?

We come from a diverse range of socio economic backgrounds, a publican, retired squaddy, labourer, gardener, tech ceo, blacksmith, GP etc. So by no means all rich, but people who are willing to put money into their hobby. Many of our crew have been building and maintaining trails for over ten years.

Your aggressive tribalism and disdain for people who want to do things differently to your self speaks volumes.

Yesterday we had a frustrating m̵e̵c̵h̵a̵n̵i̵c̵a̵l̵ electrical. 2 miles into a ride one persons bike spat out an error message e1010 or something similar. Waited 20 minutes for it still to not reset or resolve itself and had to return to the start.

So yes, e-mtbs give new potential failure modes. But when we got back to the trail centre I could still just put my bike into boost mode and get in a hot lap of one of the local trails.

608m in an hour, 20 runs down various trails, sessioning each one a few times. Happy with that.

Genuine question. Doesn't the greater weight of eebs cause significantly more erosion to trails?

As a trail builder/maintainer there is possibly higher rate of wear and we are looking at making our trails more durable. Possibly the bigger issue isn’t the weight but more the extra use as people can ride more in the same duration.

Out at Forest of Dean we are seeing over 50% e bikes but also the number of visitors is continually increasing, car park has had to expand again recently.

Also more people are buying lightweight emtbs as they handle much better. Looking at the new Orbea Rise it has pretty similar power to a lot of full fat emtbs but in a lightweight bike. My Specialized Levo sl is just over 17kg so not much different to the stunt jumper it is based on (a few kg heavier)

Weight is irrelevant, really. My 100kg mate rides his 15kg regular MTB, and my 78kg rides my 26kg e-bike. He's heavier, but I'm likely to ride the same trail more times, that's more of a factor

I thought e bikes were an absolute overpriced fad, but going on shoots up mountains and they are a life saver for humfing kit also if your wanna do laps of DH tracks you can put not as much effort in and do a lot more.

With all that said, I’d still rather ride my 916 and push up as it’s lighter and just better for riding but they defo do have a time and a place.

That’s still lighter than an old DH bike.
