I'm sure you are aware but your insurance company will need advised. I heard a horror story that a guy bought a mapped car, crashed it and the insurance assessor checked the car and found it had been remapped. The driver was unaware as it had been done by a previous owner. Claim refused - £22,000 down the drain.
The remap looks to be around £250 the box is £400 ish (some sales make it quite a bit less). I guess the question is around doing it in hardware (the box) Vs software (the remap). The box I suppose you can just remove and it goes back to stock. The remap needs to be undone I assume for the same cost again. But this is just from googling.
