Just moved the decks etc into my new music room.
Something seems to have gone wrong with them in the 10+ years they've not been used. They don't seem to be able to beat match any more

Played an hour, got plenty of love for my trip-hop tunes from folks who mostly weren't born or were toddlers when that whole scene exploded.
Middle aged thread >>>>>>>
Was "paid" with pints, chips, and a block of near expiry date burrata.

Here's my selection from Tuesday. It's a food pub with chess night around that so kept it fairly straightforward so as not to empty the place...

I really want to get a set up again. Sold off my 1200s and mixer . I've managed to get one 1200 again just need to get a mixer and another deck ! What the classic set up to enable digital and vinyl ? The digital bit is a bit confusing

I got a second hand Lenovo laptop running Serato DJ Lite (the free one) and a second hand Pioneer DDJ controller to get going for £250-ish and just plug into a line in on the mixer.
The DDJ has a headphone jack and you can cue digital tracks on that and mix with it's crossfader, then swap your headphones to the mixer when you go back to vinyl -

I bought a pioneer DJM 250 mk2 for this. Comes with a built-in licence for rekordbox, so all you need is a couple control vinyl you can switch easily between digital and analogue.

Well I don't know something like that existed. Need a rotary version 😆

It's decent to be fair, though invariably I always end up just playing vinyl!

Turns out there is one, £3.2k though!

I thought you still needed a box between mixer and computer, I really don't pay enough attention to digital DJ tech, I'm impressed I can sort tracks by BPM and key lock is basically magic.

Oh shit, I've watched loads of videos about that thing and never saw the DVS control feature mentioned.

I've an old 4 channel mixer that you're welcome to. Nothing fancy but the fader is still good and the pots are clean and all the eq lights still go flashy

This is new to me too thought you essentially had to have 2 set ups and try to link the out puts.
Digital is quite mad and v appealing but I'm not giving up on the records yet -

that looks so good perfect for that digital and vinyl set up. but way to expensive and probably wasted on me tbh

Does any one know of someone to give my deck new RCA cables just checked mine and it's intermittent on one channel. deck Dr is quoting 95 + 30 for service and new RCA. Which is good but wanted to see if there is forum approved person for comparison

Deck Dr came to my house and did service, new cables, internal earthing and brand new (mk5 I think?) pitch sliders, which don’t have the 0% click. Couldn’t recommend him enough!

I grappled for ages with this.
I originally had a Denon Prime GO (which I really miss), but felt I had to go Pioneer as don’t have time to be running two ‘ecosystems’, and if you’re gonna play out anywhere, you’re going to need to have Rekordbox first and foremost.
I spent ages looking for furniture and fittings to try and enable a combined set up, with digital decks raised above 1210s, but I couldn’t find anything that’d work with the deckstand I have and am very happy with. Plus the choice of mixer is heavily governed and you’ll need to compromise in some way - is it going to be better for vinyl or digital.
In the end I px’d the GO with Bop DJ for entry level decks (xdj 700s) and djm 450, as had some separate space to have two separate set ups.
I do wonder about trying dvs with the 450, but I’d need to get a laptop just for that, but I tried the 450 (instead of the xone 32) with actual vinyl and it didn’t sound as good - ie the compromise I mention.

Ta for the info people.
@J0nathan I'm a bit away from doing any big purchases yet but good to see what people are doing. Thanks to @snowy_again I'm one step closer 😊
Been asked to play at a friends 40th. They’ll rent a proper setup so I’m keen to get some practice in beforehand. What’s the best option? DDJ or XDJ? Needs to be pioneer presumably
