  • I'm certainly hoping he's Ferrari bound, would be nice to have something to be optimistic about (aside from having an awesome driver pairing, that I'm still bitter about being broken up).

Really hope Sainz gets a decent Audi to compete with. Can't see him getting the Red Bull seat, and I'd be surprised if he goes for Merc (I'd say Ocon is the most likely taker for that one).

  • I don't see Merc wanting Ocon unless it's for a single year. He's not an upgrade on Russell, has a rep for being hard to work with and they have Antonelli in the wings so he's not going to want to risk it all for a year at Merc. Audi will be shit in '25, I can't see how they can go from back of the pack to anything more than consistent midfield considering where Sauber are now. If he goes there, Sainz needs to view it as a multi-year project to get back to the front. He'd be better at Mercedes tho.

To be honest that's exactly why I think Ocon will go there. Hold Atonelli's seat for a year. I haven't been following F2 too closely, but he hasn't exactly been setting the world alight. So I imagine they'll want to keep a close eye on the performance. I'd be surprised if he gets the Merc seat next year. I'd be betting on him taking Sargeant's seat.

  • Would be great to see Newey go to Ferrari! I mean, twilight career point for both of them and dressed in red.

On the subject of Audi, have any of the aerodynamicists from the LMP1 team ever surfaced in F1? I don’t even know who any of them were and I’ve never seen any of them name dropped on F1 Technical moving to any of the F1 teams.

  • But why would Ocon do it unless Alpine want to cut him loose? He's pretty much even-stevens with Gasly so unless they have a gamble on a junior like Doohan who they might think is better, it'd be a strange choice to not renew him.

  • Because Alpine seems like a complete dumpster fire from an organisational and car/engine design point of view. I'd bet that Alpine would rather hang onto its current pairing as more uncertainty is the last thing they need right now.

  • Yes Lando!!!

  • Did the very British live TV thing, swearing and immediately apologising.

  • Was pretty cool to see the other drivers clapping and thumbs upping as they went past.

  • Looks like Bottas is on his way out; after Hulkenberg has been hired by Audi, they've publicly stated they're shooting to hire Sainz for '25 onwards.

Maybe he can go to Haas with a younger driver as team mate or go "privateer" gravel racing.

  • Looking forward to seeing how Ferrari or Leclerc manage to screw up tomorrow's race.

  • Lol, I just came here to post the same thing!

  • This is absolute insanity, how they both didn't end up in a million pieces is incredible.

  • So, everyone to slap on hards (or mediums for the poor folks who started on the hards) and just parade around until the end of the race?

  • Fun race, pity that with the weather-induced randomness Verstappen still ran out winner. Particularly since the McLarens were so much faster before the safety car.

Strange that Hamilton went backwards at the end after his hard tyres appeared to be coming good over the other's mediums. Expected him to challenge Norris for second in the final laps rather than finish fourth.

Wouldn't have thought it possible for Ferrari's weekend to actually get worse than it was before the race started.

Ferrari slapping some hard tyres on Leclerc as the city started to disappear behind the rain was the most Ferrari thing I've seen in a while.

Good to see next year's Williams pairing getting together too...

  • In other news, Jamie Chadwick won the Indy NXT (feeder series) at Road America yesterday. First woman to win a race in the competition on a road/street track.

  • I really enjoyed that. Canada can be a bit hit or miss but i love how much it tests the drivers and teams. Although i thought he drove ok on the day i was happy to see Lewis being hard on his performance after. His quali was poor and George is dominating him so far this season. A few other drivers underperforming atm.

  • Anyone else going to Silverstone?
We have general admission tickets for the 3 days - any tips?
Weather looks like it might be iffy….

  • It’s quite big and there’s a lot going on in the middle of the circuit. Use the Friday to case the place out. Quali is over surprisingly quickly when you’re there in person and I found it quite hard to follow unless you could see a big screen and had some kind of radio to listen to commentary. Take sunscreen, shorts, warm clothes and an umbrella. Silverstone is all of those weathers in one day.

  • This is brilliant stuff and the chaos hasn't even started.

  • Ferrari's tyre strategies are hilariously depressing

  • Norris almost catching Piastri on his out lap is quite something. Mad to not double stack them.

  • That's a nice win to see
