I'm not much further north in mid-Suffolk. Last year I didn't see my first (also a large red damselfly) until the first week of June.

A quick search for recent records on iNaturalist and iRecord show that there have been Odondata sightings over the last couple of weeks in your area so it should only be a matter of time. See for example https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/212218569 from 5 days ago

Thanks. On the edge of the Chilterns between Reading and Oxford - any warm days from now on and they should start to be coming out in numbers hopefully.
