Previous employer would let us expense a https://carradice.co.uk/products/bike-bureau-pannier for carrying a laptop.
I just used a normal pannier and a cheap neoprene sleeve from eBay. My thinking was:
- Modern laptops are very strong
- I wasn't concerned about cosmetic damage, laptops will pick up that over time anyway
- They get bumped around just as much in backpacks/rucksacks
- Any serious damage is going to affect me far more than the laptop so it is the least of my worries
(The next best improvement I made was getting a desktop for the office and having things setup so I could do all of my work from my desktop or my laptop. Just took a bit of discipline putting things on shared drives/etc rather than storing locally. This meant my laptop could just stay at home. Also when I was in the office I wasn't one of the twats sitting in a meeting on their laptop the entire time.)

Hmmm, I think I'd feel a bit less nervous if it had some proper padding! It's a brand new laptop and it belongs to my new work so I reeeaallly don't want to smash it up, haha.
