I've a friend who lives just outside St Ives, and it's stunning down there. But in the summer it gets so busy (too much for my friend who rents his house out for lots of money and decamps to France for the summer).
I spent a large part of my childhood on the west coast of Scotland, if I could I'd probably head back that way. Beautiful scenery, great cycling and shit weather.

Is that what Neil's resorted to?

If it's a spider based power meter, sure. Single crank arm, nope

I'm reading this book, it's about a guy from London who is also sick of the UK and wants to leave but then decided to cycle around the country. He meets lots of friendly people and goes through a lot of beautiful old towns.

It's stunning. It's called Eryri if we're not being ignorant English
North Wales in general is very pretty

The north east of England is really beautiful and quite affordable. If you fancy a city vibe, Newcastle has a lot of interesting stuff going on and there's access to lots of really nice countryside on the door step. If you fancy something more rural, I've spent some time in tiny villages around Whitby that have amazing coasts, hills, moors etc. It's like Cornwall but cheaper and everyone has really fun accents.
I would strongly recommend not moving to the UK though, it's crap here and if I didn't have any ties I would have left a long time ago. -

Having said that, you can't get Greggs and pub culture anywhere else.

Decent pubbing in Ireland but no greggs

Belfast has both

Such a good read that book. It's about the only book I can reread and not get bored of, and feel inspired.
His other two are also excellent. 'all in this together' in particular.

The bulb has gone in my bathroom - it's an older energy saving bulb. I only have led bulbs spare, when I try them the light just flashes and goes out. Any answers? Do I just need to source a non-led bulb?

And?
As in, are you unable to get the decent pubbing you refer to in Belfast (or anywhere else in the North for that matter)?

I was just replying to this and I just remembered that there's no Greggs in Ireland but it's pretty famous for pubs. That's all. Never been to Belfast and don't have any opinion on it or Northern Ireland

Northumbria, quietest part of the country by far.

What’s the fitting? DIY thread usually has a few people who are better with electrics

What's the best way to transport a laptop in a pannier without it getting completely battered? Am I better off just continuing to use a backpack instead?
-
• #121874
I do it most days, I just wrap it in my clothes. You can get neoprene laptop sleeves which might absorb the bumps a bit

What are these threaded holes for on the back of my saddle? I can't find anything relevant on the Selle San Marco site

Now that the sun's back, I want to move to a sunscreen stick rather than gloop.
Any recommendations for a good suncream stick for riding, so sweat etc?
