The one downside I can think of with it is the on off switch is a button and it doesn't work unless there's power to the light. So it can be switched off and spinning the wheel by hand isn't enough to generate enough power to switch it on so you either think it's broken or you have to ride up the road with the light off for a few seconds.
If you never switch it off, like I mostly don't, it's not a big issue.
