  • Did you play the earlier games? Didn't play the earlier games so maybe missed the earlier bits.

Did it in two sittings as it was really fun to watch.

  • Anyone watch mammoth on the beeb.

What do you think of it.

  • I did play Fallout 3, but none of the others. Sounds like you did play some of the later games? I do wonder if it would be enjoyable for someone who has no knowledge of the game series...

  • I’ve played 3 onwards but my partner hasn’t played any and we’ve been watching it together. She’s been enjoying it as much as me I think. She’s had some questions about general world stuff that I’ve been answering but I’ve also held some explanations in case there’ll be any sort of explanation in the series that I’d spoil by explaining something. There’s obviously been quite a few nods to the games that I’ve been excited about or laughed at that I’ve been explaining too. On to the last episode for us tonight.

  • I haven't played Fallout apart from a bit of 4 but not for long. My wife hasn't played at all. We both loved it.

  • I've never played Fallout but have greatly enjoyed the first 3 episodes and looking forward to watching the rest.

Was a bit wary as it's the same exec directors as Westworld (Jonathan Nolan / Lisa Joy) which fell off so hard after the superb first season. Really enjoying it so far though and they've done a great job on making the worldbuilding accessible for the non-gaming audience imo.

  • Yeah, I honestly think this might be one of the best things Amazon has made in a while, but will wait and watch a decent bit more than 1.5 episodes before I pass judgement fully.

  • Only played new Vegas and never finished.

So have will probably miss out on the nods.

  • I finished Shōgun last night. Not the climactic season finale that I was hoping for, but definitely a fun ride. I think without the episode guides to keep reminding me who all the characters were and their relationships, I would have struggled.

Great casting though. I thought Yabushige was especially good.

  • Has Avenue 5 been mentioned?

  • Have just started watching Blue Lights. I had suspicions it was going to be lightweight but two episodes in find it more plausible than Kin which I had enjoyed but felt slightly over glamorised criminality.

  • I’m enjoying blue lights. Although the scene with the houses fire had me scratching my head. The super long drawn out crawl to the top, the fire was in the back room nowhere near the people hiding in the front bedroom. Obviously I’m not a fire fighter but it just didn’t make any sense.

  • Cheers for the spoiler. I haven’t got that far! 🤣

  • We've just finished the first series, I too thought it'd be a bit light, sort of along the lines of The Bill but I was pleasantly surprised. Will definitely start the second series.

  • The structure was very unusual (slight spoiler alert): get one of the characters to explain what will happen in the future, then there's no point having a second series. Decades of reveals compressed into a couple of paragraphs of dialogue.

  • OH is watching Blue Lights and I'm in the room. Really baffled it's been getting such good reviews, it's Heartbeat meets the Troubles. And Belfast accents put my teeth on edge.

  • A friend from Ballymena where it was filmed said the only inaccurate thing was the locals throwing rocks at the police cars. He said they hit the police cars much more frequently in real life. When I told him I was watching it he sent me a photo from his local shop where Happy Kelly got beaten up in the series.

  • Barista Coffee though.

In other news. I’m on season 2 episode 6 of Seinfeld. It’s very “meurgh” a bit like if I was watching friends again. Mildly amusing though.

  • Tales of the Empire filled in a few gaps. Not so great, however.

  • Enjoying HBO series The Sympathizer...apparently coming to Sky Atlantic in May

  • I mean isn't this basically what Seinfeld and Curb are once you're past uni age?

Imo it's very much longhall aeroplane TV. But because some gen-xers got gassed on it back in the day, passed it onto their to their little brothers and their mates it's lingered.

  • Never got Seinfeld at the time… just cruel stuff.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a horrible person…but yeah definitely Friends for Edgelords

  • A friend from Ballymena where it was filmed said the only inaccurate thing was the locals throwing rocks at the police cars. He said they hit the police cars much more frequently in real life.

Well, also the romanticised copaganda. The rioters could be pretty accurate - my brother once got hit by a petrol bomb, rock and traffic sign within about 10 seconds.

  • I've long gone off Inside Number 9, recent series have been terrible.

Force of habit though, watched the new one and it was.... Excellent. Really good, best one they've done since the very early series.
