Bike Storage: Wall mounts, stands, lock-ups, sheds, etc.

That looks fantastic.
I really need to sort both front garden and back garden bin/bike/shed situation.

I'm about to order a shed, would I be disappointed with 6 x 10ft? Storing a couple of bikes and some garden tools. Ideally would want some room to walk around rather than over stuff.

Anyone got pegboard?

If so will a 3cm gap behind the pegboard present any issues?

Are people asgaard bike sheds waterproof? My block of flats have 2 and it's never been close to being water tight

I've had the Asgard Annexe 6x3 for five years and it's been really good, totally waterproof 👍

Ah nice one. Just checked and I did email them about it shortly after fitting. Apparently water is normal on the floor for a unit without a steel base. I stopped keeping a bike in there when bar tape went mouldy though and the tape was wet each morning

Same with mine - perhaps the sloped roof helps on the Annexe

I lug my daily bike upstairs as a result! Also hard to get 2 bikes in so I am liable to and have had the odd ding come my way

I've got a narrow (~860mm wide) storage space in the side-passage between my house and the neighbour's.

It's about 3.5m tall though, so I'd like to figure out the best bike hanging solution to get the lesser-used bikes out of the way. What would be the best options to consider?

Mine is pretty much from the top at least - never seen any water ingress (maybe a little through the bold holes at the bottom but only if there's lots of standing water around it)

Is there a better solution than this to hang a couple of wheels on a wall?

Cheaper would be just some shelf brackets and some foam to keep them from scrathing wheels. Thats how i'm currently hanging frames and wheels

Bikehangers that were due "late 2023" are finally coming if the parking suspension over the road from me is to be believed.

Hopefully I'll get 3 spaces in it (for bikes for me/wife/daughter, not just 3 bikes for me) which will free up space elsewhere and keep my commuting bike closer to home than its current location.

I know they're easily broken into but these aren't expensive bikes at all.

Got the email this morning from Falco. 3 spaces in my local bike hanger snagged.

Now when I sell my Aravis and Colnago I can move my other two bikes elsewhere and sell my Trimetals shed.

Now I just need a plan for securing them. Each of the bikes has a D-lock already, but I'm thinking of having an Almax type chain to be the second lock that's left in the bike hanger.

I've got round to sprucing up bike storage and workshop outbuilding and thinking it would free up some space to hang helmets and shoes on the wall. Predictably there's a whole world of overly fancy and likely quite useless options out there, am thinking that something more standard household and less heavily marked up would look fine and do the trick though. Anyone got any real world recommendations for options ideally with some pics for some inspo?

Just take your pick of hook really depending on tastes. Any hook will hold shoes/helmets. Dyke and dean have some nice options..

Cheers, that's a good shop reco - I can't reallt picture what shape / size would be good for holding shoes, hence wanting to see some examples... maybe I should just take some to a shop and try them on for size!

Our bike store is pretty much finished now.

It's been much more expensive than an OTP Bluum or Brighton one would have been, but they wouldn't do a custom one this big, and it's pretty over-engineered so it should last a few years.

What's the black strip at the bottom under the wood?

It's a strip of composite decking material to stop the wood sitting in any rainwater that accumulates and hopefully prolong its life.

Came up with this design for my flat, brief was wall mounting for 4/5 bikes, and be as compact as possible. I was mounting on plasterboard so had to make sure I was spreading the load correctly.

I ended up going for Topeak Swing-up hooks, a little pricey but the big plus is that they swing, which means I can fold the bikes to the left and right for easy access and also make them sit closer together.

The hooks are then mounted to 2 t-slot profiles, the slots mean that the hooks can be loosened and then slid along to another position, good for precisely positioning bikes to handlebars saddles nicely fit together.

Overall, really pleased. Super easy to get bikes in and out, doesn't intrude too much into the room. Hasn't fallen down yet!
