Hi folks I’m probably being daft, but I bought an older Brompton for my brother of a friend and it doesn’t have the lever for the rear wheel to unlock when one wants to fold, feel free to tell me I’m
Nuts and daft stupid ( and bad at the google) but did earlier models just not have this?

I'm fairly sure the earlier models didn't have this. So whenever you picked up the bike, the back wheel would flop into the folded position. Someone will be along shortly to confirm .
