Bomani jones has a theory that you can’t have a white qb backing up a black one, that the calls from the fans to bench a black qb when their play dips will get too loud.
Not sure I agree with that, but I am not saying he is wrong. I am going to ruminate on that this season.

He and Dominique foxworth also have the theory that there are plenty of good white db’s/cb’s who can play that position in the nfl, but it’s their coaches who turn them into safeties/nickel backs??? Rather than letting them earn their stripes out wide 1v1.
Will be interesting to see what happens with cooper deJean and the eagles, and whether his versatility counts against him in terms of fangio using him all over the place rather than as a cb.

And with the browns and the contract they’ve given Watson they can’t allow that to happen, if they’d brought back flacco to be in that qb room after the season he had, Watson would have been under pressure from the jump!
I haven’t gone through every roster but the ravens spring to mind when they used to run the Lamar Jackson and Tyler Hundley (sp?!) combo.
Think this theory will be put to the test over the coming seasons with the amount of young black qb’s coming into the league..
