I was there for just over a year. Was contracting and the company changed their policy at the end of my contract to recruit permanent staff instead and, as my contract was tied to the job, I had to leave.
I liked Zurich, it’s an amazing location and it’s easy to get to loads of places, but, back then at least, the Swiss just weren’t interested in being social with foreigners, so you end up in a bubble of other foreigners, which I didn’t enjoy so much.

The train system is massive there. Half of Zurich is a train station! Love it.
I was only there a few days so can't really comment on the Swiss socialising other than everyone there speaks English so for holidays it takes a lot of annoying language barrier drama away.
My "best" work trip remains a 1st class ticket to Liverpool and back so I am not going to shed a tear for you :P
My mate goes back and forth to Switzerland quite a bit and I was only there this time because my partner was working there.
Ah, I replied on Strava but yeah, didn't notice any shooting. We did have dinner the night before in an old armory now restaurant but no shooting IIRC. Do you know where it was? Looked like lots of open cow fields around the bottom of the lake and not much going on.
How long were you in Zurich for? If you ignore all the filthy rich supercar-driving fucks it's a really funky city with tonnes of bikes and I'd definitely go back again. Only had bikes for one day so did some walking on the other days but yeah, great public transport and lots of stuff going on.
