  • I went for a walk in the Peak District today near Matlock and finally found some jelly ears.

I'm going to dehydrate them, rehydrate them in Cointreau and then dip in melted dark chocolate.

    Adult Jaffa cakes coming up.

  • ^ Nice find.
Never seen one in the wild*

(* 'wild' for me is the urban fringe).

  • First for me, too. Was at a kids playground in Florida, so conditions might be a bit more conducive for them - warm, humid and a lot of bark about. Saw a few.

  • Only seen one and that was two years ago, had no idea what it was until I looked it up:

  • Any id on this one? Pics not great as camera screen hard to line up and focus when in amongst the grass.

Edit: I'm getting Brown Rollrim and Birch Milkcap (I wish I'd cut the gills to see) but it is way too early for either?

  • Any ideas of what this might be? I’m struggling to come up with anything that is scaly and also flat

  • Pholiota I think but not sure of which one. If it’s on wood chip could be exotic migrant !

  • I’d have guessed brown roll rim and yes early but it’s been very wet

  • Thanks - I’m sure we get some kind of out-of-habitat stuff at the allotment coz of the woodchip turning up from wherever the arborists have been that week

  • Got a couple of these coming up in one of my raised beds. Looks pretty cubensis-y to me, though I am not intending to find out for real.

  • Must have been a radio4 program that mentioned the 'mind expansion' is working by having parts/ paths of thought closed down.. guess the link of rerouting thought - if the route of a depression is the failure to 'accomplish' - would work.. I've just never rocked up to the GP and asked if its allowed

  • what is this one ? edible ?

  • out today and found these two

pretty sure these were identified last year, when i posted some pictures of something very similar looking, by someone here as edible. shaggy parasoles or just plain parasole mushroom. could someone just confirm so i can rustle up some mushrooms on toast for tea tonight

  • also found these two which was a pleasant surprise.

a bit earlier than last year ?

  • the parasoles identified last year had a more pointed cap. could these be warted amanita they are said to look quite like parasoles but with a more pronounced lump / wart ?

also no snakeskin effect on the stem which the ones i photographed last year had.

  • somehow wonder if it's honey fungus
