Would love to make one but unsure how sturdy the rack is if you do it this way...

What are your thoughts on those? I´m also planning on building something similar after the summer.

That´s the cleanest looking way on building a cycletruck but I do have some doubts as well of it being sturdy enough. These examples probably make more sense in terms of load capacity and frame strength, but I guess they don´t look as nice.

Yea not sure what I make of the rack pivoting off the single weld! It certainly looks clean, but if that weld fails = horrific accident. If you build one please do a thread about it !

Another way to do it is use a massive second top tube, like in the pics.

This was my first attempt, handled even worse than it looked!

I think it was in this iteration that it had the absolute death wobble if you took your hands off the bars at anything over snail's pace.

Thats the one I had in mind! Do you know if they all have the wobble?

It seemed to be a pretty ubiquitous complaint of them. Keeping things stiff and not projecting too far over the front wheel would be my advice.

Tern HSD with 1.2k on the clock available locally for £1.9k. intended for me and my wife to share and haul 1 kid around. Hauling groceries not really a thing anymore as we've moved in across the road from a supermarket. Undecided whether it's worth it as I could stick electric hubs in both our bikes for less money.

Any thoughts from HSD owners? Price seems fair?

I checked out the Quick Haul in a shop the other day which also looked good but not much less cash than a new HSD.

The last iteration looks amazing! How much of the original frame is left in that?

You’ll be getting all your groceries from one source? What if they move, or are shit, or a better place for specific items exists a little further away?

Pretty much, it's a supermarket, it has 98% of what I need and anything else I can pick up at the city market when I'm at work (with a normal set of panniers).

Eletric hubs may be cheaper but your kind of buying into the platform. My kid loves the tern rain tent. Its a noce bit of kit.

Good point. Child had a pretty miserable time on the way back from the park this morning due to rain, though I'm not sure it was bad enough when we went out that I would have bothered if it wasn't already on there. How quick are they to get on and off?

Thanks. That could be the difference that pushes it over the line tbh, and one I hadn't given too much thought to. We survived with an Opossum at the tail end of winter, and still had to chicken out a few times and take the car. That's something I really wouldn't want to do now we've moved as nursery is on the way to work and past a couple of schools which looks painful to navigate in a car. Clubhouse fort looks like it'd be viable all year barring major gales maybe.

Yep, i leave it on and just toll up the sides. Keeps sun off the kid as well. We are presently migrating to an Urban arrow and she loves the tents. Wife has a bullet and she just gets rained on. So rideing with dad is the preferred option in the rain.

Thinking back it was actually two distinct things, the truck that was horrendous and got extended out and still wasn't much better then I got a Marin 27.5" mtb frame that had a buggered seastay and turned it into the one that handled decent.

I think the one that was originally a truck got cut up and the rear triangle went into a tall bike frame.

Have been on the fence if i need to eventually trade up to a load 75 but think this is peak dad mode. Occupants are 36mo and 36yo

It just needs Rohloff and a suspension seatpost
