Yes

[I’ve said yes, it seems to be the going rate. I won’t be paying anyone £65 to take a loo to the tip though]

Looking good. Get a day bed in there!

Any furniture recommendations gratefully received, with the proviso that I'm financially ruined now.

I’d custom that to get the built in vibe. Couple of 2 by 4s and a mattress, not even joking.

Crack-den chic?

Embrace it.

I need to move 😂

This is gonna be so cosy. Really effective window/skylight combo.
Our built-in bench seating is gonna be made from IKEA wall unit carcasses, with ply fronts and top.

If you do this, make sure its a memory foam one not a sprung one. That way it will look more like a cushion and won't age badly.

Finally broken through from the living room. Hyped that the sun trajectory mapping I did ages ago seems to have worked out; skylight placement means we get direct sun into the living room for a few hours, avoiding it becoming a dingy corridor, as well as reducing solar gain in the summer after midday as the roof pitch means the sun’s already moved past the direct incident angle by then. The Velux will also be fitted with external retractable blinds to further reduce solar gain if needed.
I got a lot of stick from people, including the builder, for persevering with the 'sawtooth' flat-and-pitched roof design, but it seems to have actually worked out... Can't wait to remove the protective cover from the rooflight and see how the joists acting as a 'brise-soleil' to avoid excessive solar gain works out as well.

One thing I'm kicking myself about though is the loft staircase; at the time, I didn't think we could afford a bespoke/fancy staircase so just got the builder to match the existing stairs.
Turns out that the actual staircase manufacturer is round the corner from my work, and after chatting to them it became apparent that they can make basically any design from any timber stock for not prohibitively more cost than basic-bitch level.
Gonna take a while to get over the fact that we could have had the open-stringer Douglas Fir staircase of our dreams after all...

Looking forward to your updates on this as I would like to pursue the same.

@chrisbmx116 can you remind me how/what you made your office desk with? I recall it was black, what is faced ply or something else?
-
• #10398
And @chrisbmx116 is it wipeable?
Genuine question. Want to move away from the untreated oak kitchen worktop I've used for the past 2 years which has got jizz stains everywhere.

Any views on this much appreciated. Bristol plumber, coming to Wiltshire, although he had not indicated previously any anticipated uplift. Ofc he only sent it tonight and is due to start tomorrow.
To supply and fit a new flush valve and inlet valve plus materials for for tidying up pipe work on inlet comes to £150
Installation of the new high level toilet and cistern. Which includes bringing the new inlet pipe to the cistern, supplying the new pan connector and sealing pan connector to existing waste pipe. £250 I can dispose of the old toilet as well for an additional £65.
Installation of the basin and materials. Which includes bringing a new hot feed from the cylinder under the floor, bring a cold feed under the floor, pipework for a copper tap and also connecting the waste. The only thing that’s not included in this is the 35mm pipe and fitting required for the waste. All other materials included. £400
Installation of water softener, tidying up existing pipework, new outside tap, first fix kitchen pipe work including all materials £450
Looking on checkatrade, it seems probably right for London’s famous London, maybe punch for London’s less famous rural arse end of nowhere.
