  • I throughly enjoyed it this year.

I camped in Kielder Campsite with a friend. Wondered why it was so cold at night to wake to frozen water bottles and a frozen up derailleur on my bike. Thankfully it warmed up pretty fast and the weather stayed good all day.

We did the full 200 and my legs only shit the bed for a little bit in the last 20 so I’m happy with that.

  • Is it both fun and hard at the same time, or is one of those routes where it alternates between the two? I like the idea of it. Also could it be done on a non-event day? ie do they close roads or anything?

  • I’d say it’s a decent challenge but if you’re used to riding that distance on the road then less so.

The route changes slightly each year but it’s normally all on forestry tracks, so you could ride it whenever you like. Kielder is a pretty good place to stay if you want to go and ride gravel. There is a great campsite and loads of holiday cottages around. Been meaning to organise a summer trip there with friends.
