I came here a while ago for cat advice, and had decided a rescue may be the way to go as I was reticent to move my elderly cat who my daughter had adopted when I moved house.
This eventually was abandoned as I travel with work and would leave the cat with only my son for company and I dont have time for the cat to house train him.
Fast forward to last week when my daughter discovered my grandson has developed a cat allergy. So frantic discussions with the vet and son on relocated my former psychopathic moggy to live with me ensued. To cut a long story short my delightfully evil overlord Claymore (named after the anti personel mine he emulated when leaving a travel box when we first got him) is back with me and has already whipped my son into shape. To the point the cat will wake my lad up everyday even after ive fed the furry monster.
This is what greets my lad every morning with a slap to the chops for a second feed

Was cold yesterday. Fleur normally doesn’t go for blankets but spent most of the day tucked in.

My wife was at home sick yesterday, and as she was lying in bed one of our cats jumped up and started licking my pillow. I really really hope this isn't something she's been doing every day without us realising.

You taste like cat arse ;)
Definitely odd behaviour licking material. Usually licking is a grooming thing

What are people's diet tips?
One of our cats is turning into a proper fat bastard, and struggles to get through the cat flap.
It would be comical, if it wasn't such an indictment of our neglect.
We usually feed together them twice a day: mornings with and 85g tray; then a measured scoop of dried food in the evening.
That amount has been the same for years, but now (just) one of the cats is porking out.
Current strategy is to feed them the light version of the dried food and waiting to see if that has an effect.
Any other tips?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a quiet cat wheel? I'm wondering if my cat might need it but I'm a light sleeper so would need something super quiet

We have separate microchip cat feeders.
For the thinner cat, we've had to put in a microchip catflap into a billy bookcase (with doors) as well as the feeder, to stop the fat cat getting her food.
Is working. He's lost 5% bodyweight in the last month.

We give May half a sachet in the morning, half in the evening, small scoop of dry food for elevenses. She will often beg for more and is very vocal, but we don't give in
We spent 10-15 minutes either side of the day playing for exercise, she has this bird feather toy on a string that she will gladly chase for days
