Thanks. Tbh the idea of spending any real money on a gravity-defying shit-pump doesn't fill me with joy. Gonna see about demolishing the side return instead. Or maybe just a small section of it so I can pipe the poops straight down to Splinter's hideout.

It's perfectly ok. And I say this as a perfectionist.

That's a hell of a Tinder bio for someone.

To extend the Saniflo /pump question. Is there a reliable way of having a washing machine in a cellar and pump the waste water up to the drain which would be I guess a couple of meters above the machine?

This is exactly our thing at the moment. Currently have a washing machine toilet and sink in a sort of utility couple of rooms behind the kitchen. The floor they're on is about 60cm above the kitchen floor up some janky steps. We want to dig out the steps so it's the same level but then the side return is also tiered so would potentially need to dig out the side return to account for the lower floor. Though on the face of it 60cm sounds a lot more tolerable than your couple of meters.

Hard to imagine exactly your sitch without a pic, but it might be worth thinking about whether you need everything level/same height.
In an ideal world you'd have your washing machine and tumble dryer at couple of feet off the ground so you're not bending over. So you may be able to turn it into an opportunity.

Fully agree on raised washing machine, but can't see a ladder leading up to a toilet hung from the wall. Also hoping to add a shower room in there somehow (separate room to washing/util stuff but same section of house).

Some inspo for your Notion

Funnily there is a big old storm drain or something outside the current toilet window in the side return. Has a drop like that. Maybe I'll just extend over it, rig it with some LED and bob your scoble

Everyone else sings Slight Return when they talk about side returns right?

i wonder what it would have looked like if you went vertical tiling under the window opening?

This is how I imagine you living.

I was looking at sanifo recently as I want to relocate the kitchen, which would.be below the drain so would need to pump sink waste up. It seemed quite straightforward. And I think for grey water not much work.
I'd just email them, they'll advise the right product.

Did think about this, but it would have spoiled the 'above/below lintels' zoned look.

Once we've built in ours I'll miss it and plaintively sing "where did you go...?"

It is Plymouth, after all

My neighbours are looking for a recommendation for removing pebble dash. Are you east and would you recommend the people who did yours?
-
• #10370
Yep, we’re in E10 and had Michael from http://www.essexbrickworkandrepointing.co.uk do ours.
Was half the price of all the other quotes we had, did a very good & thorough job.

I think I recommended him to you? Or someone else on here. but he also did ours back in 2017 and had a great process

Thanks. Turns out half my street used them, although not that long ago they went off the radar for a bit and ghosted one of them who was all ready to start work. Good they seem to be back again, any issues with communication?
-
• #10374
No issues at all, I know they are very busy so we had to wait a while to start, but once begun they were on site every day till the job was done, then came back to fix a few snags quickly.

It will be fucking dusty FYI. I did not realise how bad it was gonna be. Fine if your house is already a building site like @ectoplasmosis but something to bare in mind
It’ll be a euro size, mcalpine do an adaptor to go onto standard stuff!
