I did it to and From SE France last week from Gatwick. It was just in a soft padded bike bag and arrived unscathed at both ends, waiting for me by the time I got to baggage pickup.
There was a long check in queue at Gatwick which I didn't anticipate though, got the tag then took it to the large luggage drop off which is instant. From there I don't think EasyJet have anything to do with it, its just down to the baggage handlers at both airports.

Current thinking on this bikes on Easyjet option, anyone? Have got a trip in September and was going to go with BA but flight prices seem to have gone astronomical since I last checked... so any recent experience / price guidance on booking a regular EJ flight then paying the uplift to take a bike, anyone?
