The only use I’ve found is having a thermos style thing for filter coffee to keep warm.
I use one of the plastic montbell cups when on the go as I make a coffe when leaving the house

Kinto for keeping it hot, small (appx 100ml sized) plastic keepcup for drinking from, easy to carry.

Primus flask was good previously too, discontinued else i'd have replaced like 4 like. Think it was 250ml?

I've never found any means of keeping coffee hot during travel that doesn't make it taste weird, to the point where I wonder if it's just the fact of sealing it up that makes it taste odd.
That said I've got a Nespresso touch mug, which I'm impressed by the thermal properties of.

I think half the problem with travel cups with a lid is that you don't get the smell in the same way.

Lol, has anyone tried this new Lavazza Barista? I’d seen it appear in Sainsbury’s but my pal bought a sackful in Costco and gave me a jar.
Seemed to make an acceptable espresso as long as you like dark roast, with a noticeably very dense crema. Fine in a milk drink. Unpleasantly high in caffeine, but I’ve cut my coffee right back recently and put it down to that.
I did a pourover with it the other morning and it foamed up like it had washing up liquid in it. On the ‘bloom’ it seems to out-gas a huge amount, way more than I’ve seen any other coffee do. In the Aeropress I had to knock the foam down and top it back up, and even then it was all bubbly on top. I think it must be treated or something to make it do that, but something isn’t right there. I think that explains the very dense crema I got on the espresso. It made dreadful pourover.
I also noticed when I took it out the fridge the beans were all stuck together. What have they done to this stuff?

Sounds like a James Hoffman video on these could be quite fun.

beans were all stuck together
probably just the oil from the (over) roasting making the beans sticky ?

Mate was given a kg as a gift as he “likes coffee” so he have it to me to try, thought it was awful. Lol

I've received so much shit coffee as presents as the years. My wife seemed genuinely hurt I didn't want to use the pitch black beans that were roasted with cinnamon or something that her mum gave me once.

Think they spray it with water to help bulk the weight back up.
Much like cheap chicken and bacon, water is cheap and heavy. -

I've received a couple of bags of coffee bought at the airport by people returning from places that can produce nice coffee. Unfortunately these were roasted so dark that they were entering "burnt tyre" territory. Lovely thought though and drinkable with a slug of milk.

i've had a few kilos of various beans to review for amazon vine recently and it seems like the done thing now is just chuck the words medium roast on the packaging for the same old dark roast shit and cash in on the third wave hype with zero effort. 1 out of 3 have actually been close to medium so far and have another to try when i've used up my current lot of dark arts beans.

So Ive been having an issue with my 1zpresso for awhile. Basically the threads are getting effed and i cant get the bottom cup on. I did drop it once - so I dont know if that is the source of the issue.
To me what it feels like is that because the top part of the grinder isnt accepting the bottom cup, the threads are becoming compressed and warped. Then this makes it even more difficult to put the cup in. Can be seen in images here: https://share.icloud.com/photos/02dryOlgGl0ECDrHJMCJFVlRg
Contacted 1zpresso and they offered to repair it (though I'd pay postage both ways). They cant guarantee that it can be repaired. Is it worth it? Is the grinder dead?

Received my JGC beans but struggling to get them dialled in. They seem to take a while before any flow comes through but when it does, it speeds up very quickly and ends up a watery acidic mess with no crema. So even if I'm getting the 1:2.5 in ~30secs the reality is that the first half is hardly anything and the second half is a quick under-extracted pull.
Any advances on what I may be able to try? These are listed as an Espresso roast but are quite a bit lighter than your average, so I might be getting stumped by a lighter than usual roast and should expect it to behave different to a darker espresso bean?
Tried increasing the dose and yield but no luck, still bodyless, cremaless and with a lingering over-acidity.
Not knocking the beans as it's clearly not pulling correctly, so keen to make them justice but struggling to see which way I should be going...

Strange, what happens with a coarser grind? I’m guessing you’re using an automatic machine?
-

Not an expert:
To me, it sounds like it's struggling to find a way through and then massively channels once the water finds a path. Maybe going a fair bit coarser could improve consistency of flow and then dial from there?

Threads at the top of the cup look a bit mashed, it looks like there is at lip forming at the top which I don't think mine has, but looks like the body is ok, maybe just a replacement cup is needed! I'll take a photo of mine when I get home later for comparison!

Sounds like the water is struggling to make it through and then after a while the puck is becoming so water logged and losing shape, hence pissing through towards the end.
If all other things are equal (tamp etc), I'd gradually step down the grind coarser pull a shot each time until it seems to be on the money -

You can try things like pre-infusion and flow rate to help with this stuff on fancier machines

Does anyone want this? We picked it up on behalf of a friend from a neighbour who was getting rid because they can't get it working. It's been sat in our cupboard for over a year so I want to move it on! I couldn't tell you what's wrong with it to be honest. Comes with a couple of portafilters, a tamper and a carrying case (plastic bag for life).
Free to collect from SE20.

Anyone have a 1zpresso ZP6 by any chance? I am pretty dead set on buying one but curious if anyone has thoughts here. I haven't used my Flair or cared to make espresso in months, so going to go all in on filter. Not sure if 'upgrading' from a JX-Pro to ZP6 is worth it but everyone seems to rave about it for filter...

Photo now attached! Sorry to disappoint.
Yeah I forget I’ve never commuted on public transport before, I imagine sitting at a table reading a newspaper
