Could be something like a wheel weight knocked off, or a rim damaged. My X type had rims that were more prone to pot hole damage. To the point the wheels flat spotted or cracked.
Tho I have had a bike crack a rim running a 28 and not snake bite the tube.

Might be worthwhile going to the local council to pay for the damage as if the pothole has been reported you maybe entitled to compensation.

That age golf apparently have dreadful touch screen controls

£45k for a new Golf GTi
No-one pays that though, it's all finance or leasing

feel like car makers should offer a trim that’s still luxe/performance but with no/minimal digitalisation

i wonder how different it is to the skoda?
our current skoda has a touch screen and it isn't amazing but also not that awful (2017 vintage). i don't need to use it for that much, get the sat nav going at the start of journey, audio volume and track skip are on the steering wheel, likewise cabin temp is a dial.

VW have rolled out 'new' digital stuff across all their models now - including the octavia. By all accounts, it isn't very good.
It shares most of its control systems with the VW Golf, keeping buttons and switches to a minimum in favour of a digital touchscreen interface. This looks very neat but it isn’t always easy to use. Too much attention needs to be diverted away from the road to perform even simple tasks, while the digital systems can sometimes take too long to respond.

I've never used it but it has terrible reviews.

Hard to say what is more annoying here, the volkswagen UI or the presenter

• #77911
Hmm does sound a bit shit. Design winning over ergonomics there.

Even that is wild though - mortgage levels of repayment and/or large deposits.

having watched the review (thank you for posting), there's some big backwards steps.
for e.g. on my current skoda, there's a thumb wheel on the steering wheel for volume. it's perfectly placed, and also serves its function perfectly. so much better than those "hepatic" +/- which have replaced it on the newer cars.

My car developed a misfire recently. It wasn’t terrible, it got me to Wales and back. I did the usual stuff changed the;
Spark plugs
Distribution cap and rotor
HT leadsNow somehow it won’t even start. I’ve check the firing order and the leads are 100% in the correct place. There’s a spark, there is voltage from the battery, coil to the leads.
It’s got fuel, I’ve check to make sure there isn’t anything disconnected, all the fuses are good.
I can’t for the life of me figure out why it won’t start

Fuel pump?
-
• #77916
Has fuel,
If it has fuel there is a problem with the spark. Issue with the king lead?
What did the spark plugs you took out look like?
-
• #77917
Definitely has fuel. All the leads are showing as carrying voltage.
The old plugs were a bit sooty but nothing bad. The new ones are the same.
Fuel was working so it shouldn’t be that
Spark is more orange than blue though.

Is it a decent brand non fake cap? Some can fail from new. Is the carbon electrode in thr center of the dizzy cap contacting the rotor arm?
Could try changing back to the old parts one by one and seeing what happens.
Also never been able to identify a miss fire from looking at the spark plug

It’s a strange one. Car went in for a load of work. Belts and tappets. Came back with a missfire.
The garage said they didn’t investigate because I wanted to keep costs down.
It was only a week later I was thinking, it didn’t go in with a misfire so it must have been something they did, but too late to be throwing stones

Shit I hadn't really considered that it would be a mk8 GTi. I have a soft spot for those, please buy.
I know this one is not standard at all but this is the car that flipped me on the mk8 looks

Jimny has been repainted, smelt like Mario Vaz had painted it this morning, still offgassing massively. "It's was painted last year, mate!"🚩
Turns out this one isn't just off the boat after all but has been driving around for a year and he's selling it for the owner. 🚩
TBH It was one bullshit story after another from this kid so I don't think this one's a goer. He's already messaged me asking me to make an offer, far too desperate for my liking.🚩
What do you knobheads think? Inside is immaculate, little bit of damage on the plastic on the back door but almost perfect otherwise. It does seem very tidy, kinda begs the question why they painted it?

Swerve the jimny dude. You will kick yourself if you ignore those bad vibes, you get it and turns out to be a lemon. The forester back in pole position I reckon

Yeah, buy the seller, not the car - the second I turned up to the place selling the E63 Wagon I looked at I had very bad feelings about it, then the seller started to bullshit about the car and I decided I was never buying from him.

My feelings entirely, okay, off the list. You've helped me out there.

The 330d I looked at last week - I turned up and the guy had it in prime position on his forecourt ready for me to look at. Chucked me the keys and just asked for my driving licence and happy for me to take it out on my own for as long as I liked. Car was spotless... he didn't even try to sell it to me, just asked if I had any questions. Then offered me a PX on my car, showed me his AutoTrader screen setting out exactly what he would sell it for. I was very impressed. Not sure it was the right car for me but I will keep an eye on what else he gets in. https://www.drewsmotorco.co.uk/
