  • Few changes on my look, new (to me) power meter and a Berk saddle. Took it for a 210km blast from Cornwall to Devon yesterday, wish I’d had the sun of today

  • Just need to trim the rear cable and it’s there. My single speed mtb dreams finally realised.

  • Coming from you Lord that brings a tear to the eye

  • Just picked this up to fulfil commuting duties- hoping to put drops and gears on so will need some cantilever brakes- any recommendations for decent cantis that can actually stop me?

Why not stick with v brakes out of interest?

  • I assume you're going with road integrated shifter/brakes, which don't work with v brakes pull ratio.
Trp cx 8.4 mini v if you don't need room for mudguards, or avid ultimate for canti.

  • Jesus positive rise stem with upside down risers :(

  • Ah yeah, I missed that bit!

  • Yeah he was actually quite proud of what he had put together!!!!

  • Yep got some shimergo action going on so need to be compatible with 10sp chorus

  • Avid Shorty Ultimates are the best canti brake, bar none.

  • How about mini Vs

  • We must go back to 2007

  • I present you my latest recovering from injury (pesky broken radiushead with issues) left field contraption 26" suicide fixed.

It's an early 2000s german Checker Pig powdered so devoid of marking with a 425mm Identiti disc trick fork I had lying around. The frame is suspension corrected so bring the handlebars up, and I used a touring handlebar with enough sweep and rise to be comfortable on my arm.
Rear hub is a dmr revolver singlespeed exzentriker laced to dmr deevees on 47c schwalbes left from a joblot I acquired.

First conclusions; my 28" gear needs upping for 26". Will probably try 40-14 instead of 38-14.
Possible future ideas are to recreate the brother tequila sunrise paintjob and get some decals knocked up. The mudguard adapters on the forks might also not cut it for the front basket.
In general I am curious how all the bodges on the forks (threading breather holes to fit mudguards for example) hold up.
Also curious how the suicide fixed will fare but have a rear v-brake .
But in the end happy being back on a weird fixed now the sun's coming out again 'ere in Berlin.

  • Ron Cooper track, ex @pharoahsanders, finally ready for the summer. All now more or less as I would have liked to race it in the '80s.

  • Very nice. Is this Hastings?

  • Well spotted! Beachy Head in the distance.

  • Long shot, but anyone know of any shop selling or has a spare aerostem or C-stem?

  • We must go back to 2007

    Challenge accepted.
