I’m just having a quick jungle break at work.
I mean, it’s not cracking me up, but it is quite funny.

Parklife.
Finally, read (alright scrolled) through pages and pages of random words stuck together. Expected parklife way earlier!

Thanks for explaining comedy.

For what it’s worth I fucking hate Bill Hicks. As very well summed up here from the unwoke prehistory of 2007. https://thequietus.com/articles/11439-why-i-hate-the-cult-of-bill-hicks

I don’t hate him. But he’d 100% be a MAGA if he was still alive.

Bill Hicks vs Doug Stanhope
I reckon this material is from the tour which I saw. Some of it is not exactly woke. But if you were right there drinking cider for an hour and a half you might greet him as your messiah. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyslF26Sxfw

For real.

Thoroughly enjoyed. Especially the way the author aped his style to make the article more readable.

I remember him drinking constantly, a joke a won't repeat about Oprah, and another about a hamster cage that having typed out I've gone back and deleted.

He absolutely would not be.
He might be into some whacky conspiracy theories, but you simply have to watch his stand up, listen to the things he ascribes value vs the things he hates to see that he would loath Trump.
-
• #100663
Tbh this whole attempt to apply modern values to the comedy of more than 30yrs ago simply doesn't work.
-
• #100664
I saw him at the Leicester Square theatre in 2011 (?) and nodded off.

100% be a MAGA
How the fuck did you get there? 🤦
-
• #100666
Surely it's the logical conclusion for anyone who vermently loathes capitalism, commercialism, and anti-intellectualism. Right?
You know who he'd definitely be ripping on? Anyone who works for one of the five families of tech for taking a hippy utopian dream and turning into a dystopian nightmare in service of making the richest, richer so they can lap the spare drops dripping from Satan's teat.

Why would the libertarian, conspiracy theorist, contrarian, misanthropic, anti-woke, angry boomer be a MAGA? No, you’re right, what was I thinking.

• #100669
be a MAGA?
Because he never thought America was great to begin with? Not sure he'd be on board with all the mega Christian stuff either, but mostly he seemed to be able to think critically, doubt he'd be too woke, and probably would've got cancelled saying something I wouldn't agree with, but he didn't seem the type to use that to grift off right-wing dopes like most cancelled types do now.
-
• #100670
No way would Bill Hicks be a MAGA. Trump would provide him with endless material
-
• #100671
He did hate the Christian right, but MAGA is a broad coalition.
The way I see it, he’d inevitably have been cancelled hard for something or other within the last two decades, and his career would’ve suffered. He’d consequently have become even more angry, anti-woke and libertarian.
He’d have been a 9/11 truther, no question. There are good reasons why the ‘Alex Jones is actually Bill Hicks’ conspiracy theory rings a little bit true.

I'm assuming because he grew up around that evangelical, do as I say not as I do religious posturing, down in texas, and could see it for the shithousery that it is.
But anyway, we're taking about someone whose been dead for over 30yrs, and what they could have been and who they could have become, and who they might have supported politically which feels pretty fucking self defeating, as they're dead, beliefs suspended in amber and all we've got is what they said when they were alive.
-
• #100673
The fuck? Are you watching someone else? 😬
-
• #100674
Tommy Cooper would've been MAGA, he loved a red hat.

Now you’re getting it.
